I'm not suprised this came from Boulder. It's a somewhat good idea that is in the end just stupid. I agree, tuition is super high but an effort like this is just a waste of everyones time.

2) i come on here at work, where i am til late at night every day (weekdays at least. you'll notice i rarely come on during weekends), sorry i contribute more to society than you ever will and like to fuck around on the internet for a few minutes every few hours

I never said state schools give more money. I know they don't. Thats why they are state schools, and they appeal to those who are IN STATE. However, my parents, along with probably half of my friends will not qualify for any financial aid, as the number isnt really that high to not qualify. But, if you get into a school where money is an issue then they will give you the money needed to attend, BUT thats only for those who qualify for financial aid. If not, which could be just slightly over the limit, you still have to pay full tuition. Thats the boat a bunch of my friends are in right now. I know you dont HAVE to attend a school that costs that much, but that is how money works at those private schools.
And to the person saying that if you can afford full tuition then your family is set for retirement - that is completely false. I mean sure, there are some ridiculously wealthy families out there, but that isnt the norm. Say a family makes 200k a year combined, which is perfectly fine for living. They will have to pay full tuition for their child, and possibly multiple children. You can't possibly retire on that. Just because someone can afford to send their kids to college doesnt mean they are Bill Gates' family.
