Man, I as really looking forward to seeing 14,000 ones. It wouldn've sent a much bigger message if it were all in ones. He should've gone to a bigger bank
 
This. I'm not applying to a school that costs less than 35,000 a year. I would love to be paying 14,000 (or, to be more accurate, my parents would love to be paying 14,000).
 
Yes, but from what I gather, he's paying 14k out of pocket for the term... so its probably 28k per year.
How much of that 52k do you pay out of pocket? That's the point he's making...
 
CU is a state school though. Had it been a private school, be really has no argument. Also, you have no room to complain, I'm sure you could have gone to a school with cheaper tuition. Would the education have been as good? Depends.

14,000 is not expensive... especially for OUT OF STATE. Try doing this at any private institution if you really want to make a "point".

As someone previously said, this is simply for 1 semester. the full year price would likely be double that. also keep in mind that this is tuition alone
 
Highly doubt he is. Most private schools dish scholarships up the ass to lower the cost to make it affordable.
unless he's the son of a congressman or a millionaire, he's probably paying closer to the out of state fees for most schools... if not lower.
 
good heavens, how do you americans pay for skiing with tuition rates that high. i've heard it was expensive, but i didn't realize it was that expensive.

in terms of a message, this will only work if he gets as much publicity as possible, cause if he's quiet about it, it'll just be like some of you guys mentioned- simply a pain in the ass for the student accounts office to count.
 
You're right. I just looked it up and total tuition + room and board is like 40,000. In that case, it is closer to the more expensive schools.
And to a few posts up, private schools really don't give that much money, unless you qualify for ridiculous financial aid or are a D1 athlete. Merit scholarships hardly exist at private universities, so you end up paying what you see on the website. And really, if you come from a middle class family, there is a very high chance you won't qualify for financial aid.
 
i dont think so man,prive schools give alot more money than state schools at least here in ny. The majority of private schools will give you something, ex my schools about 50,000 a year (my dad works there so i pay much less, 50g's a year is a waste personally) and i know of 2 pepole out of the 4 years ive been here who are paying the sticker price. Same with the application process 5 years ago, i received money to the majority of the private schools i applied, not much realativly to the state schools
 
unfortunately I (my family and me) am paying that. I go to a private college and didnt get any financial aid. fortunately my family is able to afford it. also to someone above i was never complaining about the cost of my education, simply stating the difference between mine and his
 
If your family can actually foot that bill, then you are a highly fortunate individual.... and possibly have your retirement already set up...

I paid for my last term in pennies, yo. Rolled in with a truck of rolled coins, brought em all into the bursar's office on a little red wagon (several trips), and cracked em open on the desk. coinz everywhere.

this stupid fucking kid should've stayed in California if tuition was too expensive. He willingly chose to go to CU out of state, knowing how much it was going to cost. Tuition is not that expensive for Colorado residents. He's probably a worthless film major.
