I live in Denver and I'm probably going to go there...I'm a junior now. I know some people go there, do you like it? How often do you guys ski too?

I grew up in Nederland and ended up in Boulder by some freak circumstances (not my first choice school). Now that I'm here, it's ok. I'll be a senior there next year, but I'm on a 5 year plan, so two more years of school. I'm in the engineering college, so I guess it's supposed to be hard, which it is sometimes, but not too bad. I skied 4 days/week this last spring. Usually two at Eldora and two in summit county. As much as Eldora sucks, it's sweet because it's so close and you can ride the bus up there for free.

 
yup yup, signed on for next year along with some ::ahem:: others of importance, at least in the general vicinity of lovely Boulder.

ok, here is my beef with CU; it is full of poser kids. The people that go there think they are so 'hard core' but really they arn't. You guys have a football team that only wins because it gets lucky and the teams they play fuck up. You guys brag about being the highest mary jane smoking school, but really that's all in perspective, Wasted State has the highest per capita smokin' school in the country. You guys act like you so close to the mountains, your not, summit county is 2 hours away with i-70 traffic and well eldora sucks. Wow shane mcConkey went to boulder!! But alas Seth Morrison went to Western along with a shit load of other pros, MSP films out of the Western area for a reason. I can ski 7 days a week and still get 18 credits a semester. Western's recreation program is one of the best in the country, yes better than CU's. If you look at the people who teach classes at Western you will see that they are mostly doctors, not TA's. There may be more to do in the city of Boulder than in Gunnison but I gayranteee you that the people down at Western are way cooler. You can be gay and go to a poser ski school like CU, and actually if you are even serriously considering CU Wasted probably isn't the place for you. Really the whole reason I think Boulder is gay is b/c of all the pompus kids that go there.

i dont go to CU boulder but i do spend alot of time up there with my brother and in my opinion its a sick college...on a normal day you can get out of class at 1200 and there is a ultimate frisbee comp going on or a little while ago they had a snowboard / ski slopstyle comp on 'the Hill' plus everything is within walking distance and their is a shit load to do not to mention its relative closeness to ski resorts, now if you where go to another school i highly doubt that there would be half the stuff there is to do in boulder

Actually i didn't want this to turn into a debate when i started it because debating colleges is dumb since everyone is different and thus they like different colleges for different reasons?

What does CU offer for freestyle..i'm not looking into varsity but club, intermural?

There's some freestlye thing. I'm not sure what it is, all I know is that they have been shot down for the past year for funding from student fees. I'm sure they have a site that you could find on the CU webpage.

i'll be at boulder next year. yah i'll admit it, i am a poser which is why i chose the school. i didn't choose it simply because their aerospace engineering school is ranked in the top ten in the country. i didn't choose it because there's so much to do there such as hiking, rock climbing, and biking. i didn't chose it because it's only an hour and twenty from summit county (not two hours. you must drive like my grandpa.) i didn't chose it because of so many awesome shows at tulagi's, the fox theater, and the boulder theater. i didn't chose it because it was a fairly large school and you can choose who you want to hang out with. no. no, i chose it because i'm a poser. i guess it's just fate that i go there because i'm a poser. i guess i'm just not cool enough (or is it 'too cool' since i'm a poser?) to go to western. poor me.

Western is cool in my book, but I have been going to CU the last 2 years and its a pretty damn good school.

If all you care about is skiing, go to WS. They've got the edge on CU there. CU is a really good school, with some cool ass kids, and its relativle close to the mtns...close enough I got almost 70 days in this season with a heavy ass credit load and a job.

yep yep. i'm in the dorms as well (for anyone who didn't already know that). second floor crosman. triple with a bath. next year though (well two years from now) i'll probably have acess to a 4 bedroom penthouse suite in spanish towers right off of campus. interested? drop me a line.

no you're stupid. spanish towers is an apartment complex on 30th and walnut or something like that. i think you're thinking of williams village which are the towers that are way far away. although i hear the university housing they just built is gonna be nice.

yeah the top units at the spanish towers are really sweet, a girl i use to know lived up there. I remember it was pretty chill sitting out on the roof at night. Just super pricey.

Spanish toweres is right east of 28th, a block north of baseline....probobly one of the worst locations in Boulder, lots and lots of the Mexicans live in that area, you know, with like, 12 of em packed into a 1 bedroom. But the top floor penthouses are sweet for sure, my buddy lived there last year.

I think the best location is the Goss/Grove area. I lived across the street from liquor mart last year and it was a hook up. This year I got a place on Canyon and 19th, not bad and only 425/person...unheard of in Boulder. Sweet. Comming back to town in 2 weeks.

just got back from orientaion/registration yesturday, yeah, im fuckin even more pumped now. EXCEPT the damned ski and snowboard club was only there for about an hour on thursday and not there afterwards. fuck man! they were giving out FREE trucker hats and tees with this cool new logo on it. TRUCKER HATS!!!

I work at the dorms (painting, maintenance and such), and I can tell you Kittredge are some of the crappiest ones in the entire world. If you want good ones, try to get Sewall.

Phrosty is right though when it comes to yuppies living in Boulder- a vast majority of the population in Boulder think that they are 'hardcore' just because they live in Boulder- it's kind of selling out if you ask me. That and the place is fuckin crowded as all hell. I'm going to MSU Bozeman next year, in my opininon it is a hell of alot better than CU.

Both MSU and CU are respectable universities, and when it comes down to it, you only get out of it what you put into it- you could get just as good of an education at MSU as you could CU.
