CU Boulder

lets talk about something that really matters when it comes to college.

nothing.

yep, you heard right kiddies... it doesnt matter where you go, what degree you get, how long it takes, or how good a "reputation" your school has unless youre enrolled in 1 of probably 20 or 30 highly renowned schools.

that is unless youre entirely sure what field you will venture out into following college.

that being said, ive heard only very good things about CU, and ultimately who gives a fucking shit... to each his own

last time i checked, your life has nothing to do with the people you talk to on the internet.

Seriously, why are these kids hating on CU so much? I went there last year and loved it, best year of my life. I skied 50 times, given i had my own car, which i reccomend. and for all of you haters keep your comments to yourself, no one cares what you think when you are just going to ramble about shit you cant back up. Also I would take you seriously if you went to CU then didnt like it. You cant say you hate something till you've experienced it.

^^ haha sorryt man i have class from 10 to 5 on tuesday thursday. and out by 10 on wednesday and out by 9 on friday. i have a lot of time to shred but not tuesday. plus im also in williams village, will vill, i guess.

yetigonecrazy probably got the shit kicked out of him at a fraternity party or something...also, if you are an ingeunitive, creative and driven person, it doesnt matter where the fuck you go to school... i am living the dream at CU and dont regret going there for a second.

wow thats not biased being from the university website and all. Anyway argueing about whos business school is better is like winning the special olympics; even if you do win your still retarded. CU and UNR both aren't top 50 business schools in any of the majore reviews and there for niether of thier ranking really matter. All that matter is that they are legit and publish good research and conitnued to graduated decent classes. If caliber of business schools is important, going to a ski town shouldn't be the top priority. CU boulder isn't exactly a studious enviroment. Some of the parties are like shit you see in movies. I'm not hating on the place. It's just a little too far away from the mountains. I'm just trying to set the facts straight from an unbiased persepctive. Werd. I'm sure for the most part anyone that goes to CU will have the time of thier lifes, alot like most other good colleges close to mountains. But I will bet that most of you will get sick of driving 1.5- 2 hours to legit mountains and i-70's a bitch when the weather is bad. I suggest you blow those days off and enjoy the finer parts of CU such as rich slutty girls who give it out like haloween candy and enjoy the wide variety of hand rails.

I'll probably be there ( currently enrolled in two schools for fall, I cant make up mind) with a car. But I got class every day this semester to get big classes out of the way so that I can have either classes just M/W/Fr or T/Th in the winter.

i want to go to boulder becuase its is 2hrs from a bunch of ski areas and all the schools in my state are 2 1/2 hours from tiny hills... not mountains. I visted it and i know poeple that go and they think its awesome... people always dog on it cuase its not "core" like UofU or whatever... but its way more core than any state school where really the only thing going for them is partying.

nope. been to boulder waaaay too many times and met waaaaay too many loser hippie wanna be ski bums from CU.

im not ripping on CU as a college here. let clarify that immediately. it is a good business school, and the architecture program kicks major ass too.

the thing i have beef with is people claiming CU is the best place to go for college and skiing in Colorado. and it totally isnt. Wasted State and Fort Loser cant compare to CU because the state of colorado decides to give like 90% of the state collegiate funds to CU, and not the other colleges. what CU cant compare to, is the ease with which skiing is accessed at other resorts.

lets talk DRIVE TIME here. From Wasted State, its 30 mins to Monarch, CB, or Lake Irwin. From Fort Loser, its maybe anhour to Wolf Creek, Silverton, and T-Ride. Less than that for insane backcountry. From CMC/G-Wood its a 40 min drive to Aspen/Snowmass. From CMC/Steamboat its like 2 mins to the hill. From CMC/Leadville its 20 to 30 mins to Copper/Vail. From CU its AT LEAST and hour and a half to anywhere, and thats only to the shitty ass I-70 resorts. the only thing even CLOSE to CU worth skiing is A-Basin, an hour minimum if theres little traffic, its clear, and you speed. and dont give me that crap about eldora or echo, they dont count!

CU IS NOT THE BEST SKIING COLLEGE IN COLORADO. that is what im arguing. Im not arguing whether or not the schooling itself sucks, because i dont have to because im right. I simply want to stop this belief that everyone seems to have that CU is the best college for skiing in CO, because it isnt!

you just owned yourself with that statement. sure you can go to these other "colleges" and have amazing skiing really close, but are you really going to college. you just said CU gets nearly all the money and tehse podunk mountain schools have programs that are going to cary alot of weight in the bigger world....? I am planning on moving on from colorado to bigger things and i am sure as hell not going to roll in anywhere with a CMC degree. If i wanted to manage a gas station in montrose then i will take your adivse. but if i want the BEST combinition of education AND skiing in colorado i will stay right where i am CU...

i agree, cmc sucks.

CU is more of an all around school, and if youre looking to get a degree in circle jerk ology and lets skate by all my classes so i can ski all the time ology then thats probably the place to go. But if you want a more refined and specialized degree, then you might want to go elsewhere. Ft Lewis and Western both have really really good outdoor leadership programs. A prospective employer seeing a Recreation degree from Western and a Recreation degree from CU would without a doubt go with the one from Western, because its a way better school for Recreation. Western may not have the business department CU has (thanks to the aforementioned lack of funding thanks to CU), but it still has one of the better business programs in the state, as does Ft Lewis. The art program at Western is worlds beyond CU's, and the Indian studies at Ft Lewis is one of the tops in the country.

So, if you want to speak broadly, then yes, my post condradicts itself a little. But you cant look at it broadly. Each school is different for different things. When you package everything together, type of schooling, cool town, chill people, close skiing, good buds, lots of hot (but not slutty, ahem, CU) chicks, etc, thats when you can start to see why CU sucks. They dont have everything. Just some. Other colleges have more.

When you start to decide the "best terrain park" or "the best skier", you dont do it with one selection criteria. You have to take in multiple aspects, and its the same with this situation. CU may have good handrails and seem like a better broad education, and lots of nasty sluts who somebody said above "give it out like halloween candy", but theyre lacking in otehr areas, which makes it not the best school in CO for skiing!

The only people who skate through classes are frat boys on the 5+ year program. I busted my ass last year and only had one profressor that wasnt solid or phenomenal.

And circle jerk ology...? I am taking journalism, but if anything sounds like circle jekology its a degree in outdoor leadership.

i feel this is a jealousy issue. Those who didnt get into cu are hypen the other schools in colorado (which have the perks, dont get me wrong). But for those who are in school or want to be at cu are going to hype it for that side. Its a never ending cycle. I agree to disagree. But trust me CU is dope and if you decide on it or against it, you've probably done the right thing.

it might be for other people, but its certainly NOT a jealousy issue for me. i have never had to desire, nor will i ever, to go to CU. even if i had a full ride scholarship i still wouldnt go, becuase its just too far from any good skiing. no thanks. you guys can have your crappy school in the people's republic. saves you wanks from coming out and ruining our mountains anyway.

oh thats right, thats because you have the WHOLE next four years planned out, my bad. hey, you should add whereve youre going to work for the rest of your life on your signature, since you probably know that one too, and its probably going to be big too, make it a stout claim too, like "Rossignol Ski Designer - 2026". That'll be cool.

who gives a flying fuck... go wherever makes you happy and has what you want.

and yetigonecrazy, where do you go school? because i am sure plenty of people could flame it as well.

you know that episode of south park where the smug cloud from all the hybrid owners in san francisco meets with the smug cloud from george clooney's oscar speech and consumes half the country? i was really surprised they didn't have a third cloud coming directly from boulder.

yeah that probably made no sense, and i really don't want to perpetuate any more hate in this thread (that yeti guy has already done plenty of that).

hahaha...booya. outdoor leadership? so what are you gonna be? a camp counselor? i dont think you even have to go to school for that, dick. fuckin faggot-ass yetigonecrazy stepped up and got OWNED. seriously, who says that kinda shit? you've havent done anything except made everyone realize what a fag you are.

PS, my beef lies purely with boulder and *most* of the people there, not with the uni itself. i knew really early on that i would have to go to an instate school due to $. CU is a great school, (probably the better of the two unis in CO), but i'd rather get a shitty education and add two hours to my ski drive than live in boulder for more than a week.

CU is an alright school and is pretty fun. It isn't that hard to get into or do well at, it does have some good programs. Don't go to wasted state, if you like a really shit town that causes depression, then go by all means. Good actual skiing close by. CMC is waste of money and time, if you like non transferable credits with other rich, whiney kids, then go right ahead. CC is a good school, about the same distance to Breck as CU and higher standards to get in. Possibly even more rich kids and hippies though, but a better education. If you like park go with CC or CU, Breck could possibly be the best in the world, I would say tied with Mammoth.

o and it sounds like yetti gon crazy is compensating for something. i also believe that he is flip floping on his points. you flip flopper you.

i completely agree with strode on his point about boulder. it is a very smug place and i get the feeling that people there are trying so hard to relax that it makes them uncomfortable. i guess taht is the kinda shit you have to deal with out there. plus it is better than seeing everyone that went to my highschool at University of Kentucky.

You wanted some fucking proof, and I gave it to you. That shit is from the CU website, but it quotes several different unbiased reviews if you take the time to read it. Although this may seem like a far off concept to you and other people who love and/or go to your esteemed UNR, quoting is a perfectly legitimate process in publishing articles. I produced not one, not two, but three different online articles about CU Leeds being in the top 50 business schools, including your favorite, US News and World Reports. Did you even take the time to read it? You are making yourself look like a complete ignorant prick.

As far as CU being far off from the mountains, so many people here have houses at different resorts and are from different resorts that it is entirely possible to consistantly spend 3 days a week at the ski mountains and only drive up once. I do it most weeks of the winter.

Boulder may be a couple hours from major ski mountains, but it is the world renouned for climbing, biking, kayaking, EVERYTHING outdoors. I have world class trad and sport climbing in walking distance from my house. DO YOU? Don't even try to compare Boulder to Reno, you will just fall further and further into the hole you've already dug yourself.

And again, go fuck yourself.

Do you even know what class of 2010 means??? Have you graduated from any educational institution in your life? College is generally 4 years. That means that you go to college this fall and graduate 4 years later in 2010! What a novel fucking concept here.

I'm really proud of Kevo and Bk.

Yeti made me kinda bug out on going to CU but now I feel much better.

Yeti where DO you go to school?

I'm sorry, but who is the clown here? Don't you have anything worthwhile to say or is that it?

You asked for proof, I gave it to you, and then you respond in a completly ignorant way. I soundly corrected you once more, and now you give me this. You're losing points left and right, asshole.

Ok keep dropping lines like this, keep it classy bro. I don't really care about defending my school. If you are curious do your own research and decide for your self. I'm content here and so are plenty of other kids in the area. My point is that you drive a long ways. Kids should be aware of the fact that CU is pretty far from any decent skiing before they go there. I made my point.

ON another note no one has mentioned the school of mines in Golden. It's a very good school for all you aspiring engineers out there. It's still quite a drive to good sking, but not quite as bad as Boulder.

well, sorry, but for all of us who aren't spoiled by having actual mountains in our backyards, driving up to 2h30 doesnt bother me in the least when i've been driving 1h30 for the past three seasons to ski shitty hills.

sorry were not whiny, spoiled little bitches like you are.

haha, school of mines? if you dont wanna get any pussy for your entire time at college, go to school of mines. why is there such a debate over how close you are to a mountain? does an extra hour of travel time really affect your decision on where to go? i mean i like skiing, but fuck i like to do other things as well. CU has a great balance of skiing and other shit, in my opinion. if you decide to come, i highly doubt you'll be disappointed.

In no way was I advocating the school of mines. Just throwing it out there with the rest. Nest time read before you make bumbass comments. And 81% guys is being conservative. You can walk around and never see a hot girl for days.

As for the driving comment your still missing the point. Maybe you don't mind driving, but other people might. So be fair and inform them that thier will be alot of driving involved.

Calling me a spoiled bitch for living close to the mountains.....I'm not even going to dignify myself with a response to that comment.
