Ive been looking into going to CU boulder for awhile now and im worried im not going to get in. Its my number one choice, but i live out of state and i know its competitive. I get A's and B's and take hard classes but dont do much stuff out of school and my SAT scores were average last time i took them, but im taking them again. Does anyone know how hard it is to get in or have any advice?

shits easy to get into especially if you're out of state because they know you'll pay out the ass to go there. with A's and B's you'll be fine

word to what Dan said. the acceptance rate is really like, like upper 80% range. out of state is fucking expensive, but boulder is such a sick school! you wont regret it. i think you should be fine though, what's your gpa?

but will my shitty SAT scores ruin my chances? i know what you mean but people keep telling me that colleges want instate students, thats why its so cheap for them because the state funds them or something like that.

im looking into going there too. i have to meet with my counselor to get more specific about colleges, and that is one of the colleges that is up on the list.

it's not that hard to get in, i was accepted, and i didn't even have a 3.0 in high school, but then again, my test scores were very good.

don't worry, it's not that hard to get in, i got into the business school with a 2.9 GPA and 27 on ACT's from out of state. i've never met anyone that hasn't got in... they will definitely want you if you are from out of state because you pay so much money.

also definitely apply early. i applied Oct. 31 and heard back Nov. 15. it was my first choice so it was such a relief. just make sure to do the essays if they are optional.

i dont know if you have ever visited here, but it's amazing. i can't imagine going anywhere else i love it here.

boulders my first choice too, im out of state and go to a private school but my gpa isnt good at all. freshman year i was a 3.4 and i was fine until the end of soph and my junior year, my gpa suffered a shit ton cause of it but now i have all a's and b's again. my test scores are high. i have key club and baseball and some other bullshit on my app, im worried though, i doubt il get in

its so difficult to gage gpa's, you sound like you will be fine. i mean, the average gpa at boulder is a 3.6, and the average acceptance rate is around 80 percent. compare with princeton, where the average gpa is a 3.85, and the acceptance rate is around 9 percent. those gpa's dont seem too different, but compare the selectivity. im not claiming princeton is a better school, its all about fit, but it really depends.

bump same for me i have a 3.21 and decent SAT scores, and i'm out of state. how do you guys think ill do?

Its my Numba 1 too but im still nervous cause i got a borderline 3.0 but i do have terrbile add and dyslexia so hopefully that helps

ACT's count for more in Colorado from what i found applying at schools here.  But since your out of state and if you have decent grades you should get in.  CU accepts more out of state students than in state.  I had a 3.67 GPA, and a 28 on my ACT, and didnt get in.  And i know 3 out of state kids that got in fine w/ a 3.0 GPA and lower testing scores.

They have a domination of the West theory and will take more out of state kids because they get more money.  Its a good school. But there acceptance program seemed a little out of whack in my experience.

man CU isn't hard at all to get into, of the 28 people in my highschool who applied 27 got in, and the kid who didn't get in had like a 20 on the ACT and a 3.0. But fuck I got into CU with a 2.2 and a 1400 on the SAT and i got expelled from high school, i mean its a fucking state school so as long as your grades are decent and you dont completely bomb the tests you're fine.
