Yeha i just got accepted to Colorado School of Mines, but i live out of state. Does anyone live in Golden. Is the town ghetto place, or is it a nice party town or what? And most important, how close are the good skiing areas? I mean what else r u suppose to do in college.

ive got some friends going there. yeah, its one of the toughest schools out there but there are still kids who party. it can get dead friggin quiet from what i hear but then you just come party up here in Boulder, actually, as far as the more major summit county areas, you're closer than we are.

If Bill O'Reily was a freeskier: 'The spin stops here! Now we're spinning to the right!'

Excellent location, western most suburb of Denver

you can be at Loveland in 45' driving the speed limit. Small town feel with all the amenities of the city. You'll probably head to boulder for women tho.

Thanks for the info, and does anyone know what the campus looks like is it nice or what, becsue of course that brocher makes it look beautiful.

Yo. It is a very nice campus. I heard that School of Mines got 2nd for the most unhappy students in last years surveys on college campuses. This was attributed to hard classes, no women, and the worst cafeteria scores in the nation!!!! Nobody parties there cause they are always studying and most of them are geeks. Golden is a small quiet quiet suburb with not a whole lot going on. It's the closest you can get to the mountains and live in Denver. Golden is a really nice place to live. All I am saying is don't go to Mines and be expecting a party school. Yuo have Boudler if you want to party and you are an hour closer to the mountains than all those Boulderites.

my friend dropped out of there a month before the semester was over last spring because he couldn't stand it anymore.

my advice is definately DEFINATELY visit a college before you send away your acceptance letter.

first off i would like to commend you for wanting to go there. My dad went there and it is fucking hard, and insane! there is no way in hell i could get in. The campus is beautiful!!! but i would like to warn you that for every 10 guys there is like 1 girl, and also i think they have a very high suicide rate...

because I care

Hey I'm from Colorado Springs, and nexst year I'll be at Mines as well. Get it straight, mines is the toughest school in Colorado. I am in economics, but some of the best engineers in the industry graduate there. THe campus is cool, if you like shill places. I'm gonaa get a Summit County pass, cause its only a drive up. They are currently in the process of update the food service and dorms. A bunch of my friends are goin into CU some and some schools in Denver, so I'll get some partying in. Hopefully I will meet you next year.

I'd say that if your not planning on majoring in engineering (which you probably are) then go to CU, Golden isnt much of a party town, plus there are no chicks at CSM. Also swing by garts at the mills maybe I can hook you up with a cheap ski tune or something.

just because there is a goalie in the net doesnt mean you cant score

I am a junior at CSM here is a list of things you should think about.

* You have to want to be an engineer

* You have to be smart and/or work hard

* There is a core group of cool people that go there that ski and party

* There are very few girls and even fewer attractive girls

* Closest real college to skiing in the country

* Do you want to make a lot of money when you graduate?

* We have an awesome fight song and good beer

* Close to boulder and hot chicks parties

* Lots to do in the winter and summer if you like outside

* You are going to hate the following classes (Calc 1 and 2, Chem 2, NHV, Physics 2)

* Its a good school with an acquired taste. You will graduate with a real degree and make lots of money and you can laugh at business, film, etc majors from boulder.

i have all of those and that is why i am going, i even tested out of chem and calc. But i figured girls wouldnt be a big problem b/c of how close boulder is.

if you're saying drinking is the best just because coors is across the street...then i'd like to commend you on your impressive water drinking skills.

haha This is a quote that a professional beer tester told me about Keystone Light.

"Its like having sex in a canoe, Fucking close to water."

But there are a lot of other beers there that are really good. Killian, Blue moon, harvest wheat. So there is good beer there too. And its free!

Also anyone else represent Golden City Brew the best beer on the planet peace. Oatmeal stout!

Golden City Brwery is awesome, and Coors Lab Beer testing is awesome.

Mines is fun for me, it ain't everyone's cup of tea, but the above thread hits it on the head about right

Scottish!! I'm so friggin' jeleous of you guys in Colorado right now; that figures that the biggest blizzard in like 4 years hits Denver like 3 days after I go home for break... East Coast sucks, no snow, wish I was at Vail or Breck or A-Basin right now sooo bad.... Well can't wait to get back out to Colorado and Ski. And in reply to the post above; you should come time Mines Dude; we need more East Coast people representin' out here, and besides whatever bad stuff you've heard, you will be intoxicated and/or skiing so much you'll forget all about the lack of ladies/social scene in no time. And if you work hard you will get pimp internships, good job offers, and muy muy denero.

-Phil.

Fuck east coast.

We need more cool people at mines.

And it didn't snow that much in the mountains. I got the best powder all year being towed behind a truck in Boulder.
