Crystal Owns Snoqualmie

I'm not sure how I feel about that.

It probably won't change much of how snoqualmie is run, or how the mountain is maintained (i.e. park), but this will probably help offest the $14 million loss.
 
Boyne's getting some resume together: Big Sky, Brighton, Crystal, the Summit, and Cypress up north.

And Crystal and Cypress have the exact same logo. Creative genius there.

If I skiied snoqualmie i'd be pretty excited. I mean, look how much money they dumped into crystal? I'd expect to see snoqualmie with a few new lifts the next few years. BUT, it's gonna come at a price, no more cheap passes, thats for sure.
 
From what I heard on the radio this morning, East and Alpental will be getting new lifts/terrain next year. That sounds like a positive note for the transfer of ownership, as does possible deals/free tickets for pass holders of each mountain. All in all, it's sounding like a good deal.
 
theyve had a master development plan in the works for years (like a gondola up alpental etc) and recently it was going through. havent heard much regarding it since the lawsuit
 
A lift going down the backside would be ok in my opinion, open up a few more runs. East is a nice refuge from the chaos at Central on the weekends.
 
Me and Kevin head over to Hyak ALL the time when the lift lines are bad. THe only people at East are usually all the nordicers, bunch of racer kids, and the two of us. Lots of good groomers, and awesome tree skiing.

But it'd be awesome if they put a chair on the back side, or back by Mt Catherine. That would open up a TON of terrain.
 
Also they're already WAY past their cap on parking space at each base area (on weekends)... so they'd have to tackle that issue, which would be MAJOR.

Need to make Silver Fir a high speed chair also. That ride is loooong.
 
yeah I am not to sure about what they would do with the parking, I mean I think the acres of gravel is bad enough over at central and I would not want to see another 200 acres of parking like that.

But good call on silver fir. I rarely ride it though.
 
Silver Fir early season last winter was superb, lots of deep untouched snow on inspiration and wildcat.
 
Yeah, it is little things like silver fir and east that make snoqulmie nice.

And Sean I think your love child just turned 40 kilo posts. congrats
 
I wonder what will happen to the parks because if John Kircher has anything to do with it there won't be a park and their wont be many snowboarders... But I hope Central's park is left within the hands of the park crew. And I hope seasons pass holders from Crystal are able to ski at Snoqualmie for free!
 
So I've been talking with some coworkers here at Boeing about this, and they told me something else.

According to them, Boyne has entered into an agreement with Booth Creek, to take over management, NOT ownership of Snoqualmie.

Which is bad for us. I couldn't see them getting rid of the park or toning it down though. I mean Snoqualmie is known for its park (not to say its known for having an amazing park, but its known that the park is really all snoqualmie has to offer, Alpental excluded of course). But at the same time, they really wouldn't lose that much business if they ditched the park altogether. Think about how many people would stop skiing/riding there if they ditched the park... maybe 1/4 of everyone is my guess. With their marketing/management/development, they could easily make that back up with weekend warrior families.

I would say I am halfway concerned about it. Its a possible scenario, but I have a feeling things will continue as normal (except I imagine lift/pass prices will go way up next year)

Snoqualmie is still OWNED by CNL. It is managment that is being transfered to Boyne (control of said assets)

And you sure? Cause just about everything I've read says just that. CNL still owns the resort. Boyne is taking over management.
 
Haha. I forgot how to spell "lost". But ya I guess I didn't read the article too carefully because I just went to www.skicrystal.com and it said that "...Boyne/Crystal DID NOT buy The Summit. Boyne will carry the lease and manage operations at The Summit and Loon Mountain. CNL Income Properties, Inc., purchased The Summit and Loon Mountain from Booth Creek Ski Holdings last January."
 
So lesson to be learned, don't be so quick to say someone is "so lots its unbelievable" when you have NO idea what you're talking about :)
 
This is what it sounds like to me: CNL basically don't know how to run a ski resort so their letting Boyne more or less rent the place. Boyne probably gets to keep 75% of the profit, they get to advertise biggest family owned ski management firm in the country(world?), and they don't have to worry about figuring out what to do with all of snoqualmies' crap once global warming hits.........

 
you know that the forest service owns it right, not any company, previously Booth Creek owned the rights to operate there now Boyne does.

A nice benefit would be 10 free days at any Boyne resort with purchase of season pass.

Does Washington have a gold pass system? Pay once and go where ever? Something like $500 for 15 days, $800 for 30 days, $1500 unlimited.

 
I remember there used to be some uber pass like that, I think it was $1500 for a pass to every mountain, something like that. Not sure if it still exists.
 
ahhhh!!!! this is the worst news all night. name i was think snowqualmie was going to be the only place with a decent park this year.
