forecasts are saying rain up to 8000’ all day tomorrow. as much as i’m fiending for turns i don’t really feel like driving 2hrs to get drenched :/

was hoping to be up earlier this week but i had classes. next time it snows or if there’s base left next week i’m definitely there

True i feel that. I took it off today and just chilled. Mtn was looking good though. I moght hit the rails a little tomorrow depending on how hard it's raining.

But yeah hopefully the base stays a bit and snows a lil at the end.

Got a good try at it. He's greased it before. Bummed but not surprised. People woth rando management positions that don't even ski get way too hyped on flexing their shit.

Also everything got brough down to bare metal and polished glassy smooth.

Just to be aware if you only come 1 day i recommend sunday. We will be opening jist kids lessons till 2 on sat. And were open till 6 with lights but that spot will not have lights. Chinook will close at 4pm and aweep will come through any time after that. Sunday its good to go all day.

The webcams looked pretty brutal today. Will a lot of the barren spots get filled in w man-made snow by then?

Thw webcams really dont hit anything youll be skiing. Tinkerbell is fat. Upper quick is good. Lower quick and the meadow will be thin but well get a few passes or so out of it.

Marketing should have posted a pic or vid of a cat railing around snow. Would have looked way better than a pic of friggin rainier

sounds sick. thanks as always for the work you put into the park. i might not be able to make it up this weekend but i'm sure you'll have plenty of people on the rails once they get bored of the slush strip.

definitely feel you on the marketing nonsense. didn't realize that management ran that account but def explains the radio silence for most of the year. i'll spread the word on campus, i know people were itching to hit some features

True yeah. Next weekend will be even better. Park might stay where I'm building it now till we get more snow.

Mtn came out pretty sick. Should ski well. We really dug for every crumb of snow and got a pretty legit slope. Lower quick and the meadow aren't the best looking but still 3 cat passes i think. Chinnook and upper quick stuff are looking proper though.

They stole all my snow for the park to wall to wall groom tinkerbell lol. But i found some scraps. Gonna set tomorrow. Ill post a pic when shes done

5 features in. Came out ptetty good considering there was no snow there really. 2 side by side.

Donkey towrt tube, 20'flat drop flat rail, down rail, flat box, tower tube hitchin post

I mean it's on the ikon. If you'd rather not come don't. Don't see the need to hate on it. Was a good day, park was vibing.

Been a tough start for the PNW, just telling people there's a park open if they want to come hit it.

Idk I get it, skiing is corporate and expensive these days or whatever. But Idk, I guess I'm just over all the negativity bleeding into positive things.

We also aren't selling day tickets this weekend. Just a "He, this fall has been shit, but we got open finally, come ride" vibe.

I get it, but I feel like saving the "skiing costs a million dollars" for a post about the new $27 dollar hamburger with no fries or even bun type posts would make sense.

I'm sure you're just fucking around, this was just more in general. We spent a day working some voodoo magic pushing the hill to be good for today. Some guy skied up to my cat, in front of it almost, big no no anyway, but dude instantly complains out of nowhere that it was too icy or something. If he was a paying costumer he wouldn't be happy. Like dude we don't even open for 2 days, fuck off. We weren't even tilling, just tilled a bunch testing out tillers out and people had something nice to ski. Dude also was asking if it was groomed all the way to the bottom, I was like idk man, it was earlier so probably. "Can you check?" No dude, fuck off I need to go push more snow so we can open.

Idk, I've worked every day since monday, worked semi late last night getting the park together. Came in today just to make sure everything went smooth and help the guys clean the snow out. And coming back in on grave to help get the mtn more dialed for the big day of tomorrow.

Just annoying when everybody is killing it to get things riding good and everyone complains. Mostly talking about insta and people like that dude the other day. But it's kinda whack. I get it, it didn't snow 25 feet, I'm not in charge of the weather. The people riding today were stoked. The people complaining on socials prolly weren't going to come out anyway.

Anyway I gotta go to bed so I can go push some more snow all night. Not trying to bitchy, just legit get's frustrating. We weren't even going to have a park for a few weeks probably. I talked to management and made sure they knew how important it was to get features in. And it was pretty difficult with the thin coverage to set a park and get it groomed out.

Sure I care too much about this probably but that's why I'm still doing this job. We put some seriously love into the rail fleet this year too.

You don't do it for thanks, but sometimes the constant complaints especially on a low snow start rub you the wrong way.

/wall oh text.

Maybe I'll see you in the park, maybe I won't. It will be there either way,

It’s not your fault, you’re new. I used to buy lift tickets at crystal for 40 bucks and park wherever for free. I’ve been priced out of skiing in Washington despite being a 4th generation Washingtonian. You expect me

to be happy about that? I’ll show you some shit about your mountain if you want

I mean that's been a trend in skiing everywhere. Idk, things get more expensive, mountains have gotten more corporate. I don't think the multi passes are the best thing ever but skiing is almost cheaper with the passes now a lot of places. There's hills in the northeast/midwest that charge almost as much for a pass to that spot as an ikon.

Paid parking outside of A lot just started for this year. As far as A lot idk, they have shuttles at least. People will always complain about the home mountain changing. I've been in the industry a while, I get it. But like I said there's a park if you want to ride it, it's fun, if not cool. Skiing went up in all states, it doesn't matter how long you've lived there honestly. Idk, if you're bitter direct it at the cheeseburgers not the park.

Parks should be fun this year.

Pushed a decent jump a week ago ish. Prolly a 30 footer? but ride pretty good. You could get some decent stuff around it. Lofty but smooth, pretty big landing considering we had no snow when I was pushing.

More jumps coming soon. Smaller jump line might go in upper quick tomorrow night. Well needed disco rebuild when we get new features which should be on the 3rd or 4th.

Hoping to push jump 2 in lower line after that. Will prolly nerf 1 a bit once the line gets going, make 2 about as big as the jump is now and then 3 bigger. Well see how it goes. Pretty floaty though right now Have the new flat down tube in below the jump. set that and the candy cane pole jam/christmas tree setup the night before christmas eve. Set a gap up eurp wedge deal to down bar in between this morning. Gonna tweak it tonight. Came out pretty good but had no time to spend on it. Could use a longer deck on the flat. Similar to what was in disco last year but as much speed as you want.

Hoping we can get most or all of our rails in eventually and have a decent jumpline and get some flow features in.

Focussing on the jumps first and trying to make sure jumplines flow well. Then going from there. All new terrain so seeing what works. Upper has more width so hopefully can stack small jump line and two rail lines, and some flow features. Lower might just be bigger 3 jump lines and a hip and 1/4 or something

took a lap through yesterday pretty fun setup. took a few tries but eventually got tokyo slide onto the flat down. looking forward to seeing what goes in next

Haven't had cell service or wifi the last week and change.

Pullled everything for snowmsking, made a ton of snow. Was gonns build more jumps but jump 2 below jump in quick got squashed for now.

New line going in upper but new boxes came in so rebuilt disco. Last 2 nights i had broken cats and couldnt set shit.

But a few bigger rails going in asap. Rail line going in disco, 2 ir 3 jump schmedium jumpline in upper quick. Then some rails and flow features up there.

Old park backup cat got fucked by a tree cleaning up avy debris allarently. Park pro blew a bunch of hydro out of the ram, and is down till they fix it.

Bummed, was setting a bunch of shit by myself err night. Was therapeutic.

Taking 2 days off now. Have been doing 6 days and some big days to help with the other grooming a bit. But hopefully cat is fixed whn i come back and parks will get built out nice within a week and a half 2 weeks.

Everythings a little slower with 2 cat and no night hand crew but everything in dicso got set in 2 night and cat broke midway through the one night. So hopefully things get buiilt out fairly soon.

Disco is lretty fun right now honestly. Smaller features but a nice line of 5 thats good for learning to hit stuff or getting new tricks/ confidence.

Bigget shit soon.

Also was going to set s rail when my cat fucked out. So hopefully that's in soon.

The delays kinda are a bummer but we made so much snow in the days after pulling everything. Going to be sick for future builds and sustaining till spring. Pushed a bunch of natty from the trail in too. We're looking decent.

More shit soon. Sorry on the delays.

Cat got fixed finally.

Set 4 rails last night. 3 in disco one in quick. Disco was gonna be a 5 line on the keft as well but not enough space. Still will have 11 jibs in there after i set the mast in the line tonight.

S rail is above the beer yurt. More going in tonight. Possibly aframe and 40 footer.

Also more jumps soon.

anyone else gonna be at the rail jam tomorrow? red bull is taking a bunch of kids from our ski club up there in one of their buses should be a sick evening

Bought this new one from arena and building some new tube rails. Gonna try and get it in the budget to buy a bunch of new boxes from arena next year and phase out some of the older stuff.

Might try and turn one or two of the older boxes into something else, maybe wallride etc.

New medium battle box. 8x4x8 looks pretty fun

Not sure if you’re up there right now but do you think there’s enough snow to skin up quicksilver

There's enough snow to ski to the base. People skinned up the stairs from the lot today. Mtn looking righteous.

Rail garden jibbing is done for the moment as we re arrange stuff and finish things but the mtn looking real good.

We got 5 features in. 16' down rail, 22' flat tower tube, 12' flat box, 12' aframe box, tower tube hitchin post return feature.

New stuff in disco. Pulled the old. Graded and started the new.

2 linear lines at the top a line of snow features. Baby jumps, mini volcano mini spin hip boobs.

More shit going in tonight.

Also mtn is pretty much friggin open as of tomorrow. I can't ride yet but hyped!!
