Crystal Mtn terrain park

Seems like Crystal's park has been slowly dying the last few years; I think they had ~6 features last year, half of which were usually covered with snow or falling over. Not to mention the whole inbounds-jump-phobia BS...

So my theory is since Crystal has new management instead of the idiot Kirchers (source), I wonder if Crystal will level-up their park features? I really need a reason to not go to Snoqualmie anymore; someone give me hope.
 
I find it doubtful that they will put money into a passable terrain park since it seems like most of crystal's main crowd is big mountain/backcountry guys. Like you said there still is hope with the new management.

Crystal's main crowd is suburban families dropping coin to ski some groomers, and plebs riding the gondola to look at the inside of a cloud. Park isn't necessary for all that.

Survey says they are equally found at Stevens and Alpental this weekend.

Crystal hasn’t needed a park since 2010, which is also the last time any mountain located outside park city, mount hood or summit county needed a park
 
not sure if people read this still but Crystal has a park now. 3 medium sized jumps on skid row, and then 3 more small jumps with a few rails on discovery meadow. I heard the new park manager is from Keystone or something of the sort

Lol true. That trail was pretty sketchy at points but it worked. Were moving everything to quick next year. People will bitch about the lift but it never has a line and its not THAT slow honestly. For a top to bottom lap I think it'll be legit.

Will have to get it all dialed in on new terrain but I'm sure itll be fine. Building some new beginner features this summer and maybe a few intermediate/advanced stuff.

Also if nothing else well be changing things up a lot more regularly next year.

Glad you were digging it. Hopefully next year is dialed.

Also I've been talking to management about building a hike park for after this weekend. Hopefully can make it happen.
 
Unrelated but did you see that snowboarder yelling and fighting people at the top of Rex today? I wasn't there but my friend sent me a vid. Such a bummer that dude was being a prick and picking fights with people since its one of the last weekends lol

Took some friends who were alright skiers but not amazing on it and got yelled at by ski patrol. Definitely justified though since they weren't looking uphill, just gotta be so careful w it lol
 
The squirrel trail is ducking dicey these days. Actually holding up good for snow, but where you cross the trail is a little sketch. You get hit by tree branches as you're dropping out.

Also some people were having a picnic right at that spot just next to where you land.

Yeah I think quick is probably a good home especially if it rides top to bottom. Keeps things straightforward.

Yep the crossing is very sketchy. Gotta hold onto a branch for dear life if you see someone coming.

Saw at least 1 person camping out there for a while. I was very confused

Hopefully we can keep everything riding for next weekend. Shes getting sloppy out there. A cold night around wed or thursday would help a bunch.

Added some rollers.to the rail line in disco, might add one between the flat rail and pole jam. I dont think i hit every rail till the end after like 12:30.

Rebuilt the lower hip whi h was pretty but it never set up so it was a bit of a slop fest.

Def getting to that point. But stoked to still be riding parks in may honestly.

yeah i have no idea who instigated but i got off rex right after some dude in a yellow jacket got his shit rocked. was crying to patrol for like 10 minutes, other guy was long gone at that point

would be very interested in your buddy's vid tho...

It looked like the yellow jacket guy was instigating. Yellow jacket was calling the names and shoving him and the guy on the recieving end did not look like he was tryna throw hands. I'll put up the vid in a few minutes.

He seems like just a dick. Sure he was probably drinking there and on the mtn in general all day but a lot if people drink without trying to fight people.

Parks are moving back to quick fully. It's official and going on the trail map. Setup will be a little wierd because we only have skier left on upper and skiers right on lower.

Goal is to eventually get all of upper but might take a couple years.

Been trying to get a post season hike park even for just memorial weekend but not looking good now but still trying to work something out. Have pitched an idea that might work for something upper mtn. Hopefully we can get a couple features in and make something that's still fun enough.

Hopefully shes been a decent season for you guys. Next year there should be some new features as well as things getting switched up more regularly.
 
Best parks have ever been at crystal. Pushed me to progress a ton this year ? cheers to abortionator and the whole park crew

Got a few new things coming. Hopefully the park will keep growing.

Currently welding fork sleeves on all the rails which will make it way easier for one guy to swap features at 4am. Meaning more things changing on the regular.

Hopefully it's a good season. I'm ready for winter

I did. I got laid off and wasn't able to stick around but we were supposed to have a hike park below the gondola unload. Was pretty bummed that it didnt happen. I'm going to throw a bit of a fuss about it for this year. It's cool if i can't stay on the payroll but somebody should set even a rail a box, and a return feature like a hitchen post tower tube or something. People would be stoked.

I'll see what i can do!
 
Also just finished up ficing and painting the stail so that'll be back in action.

Big dfd tube is an fd and will be in this year(not sure if just from super park or if we used it)

I rebuilt the long flatbar that was fucked so that'll be in this year.

We didnt run the ling skinny tube down rail last year either and thatll run.

Hopefully will build a wallride or something else. Nees to order some steel.

Going to fix the cbox too.

It's been puking snow this weekend. I have all the rails on the hill downhill. Wouldn't fuck with the other rails, but tower tubes are a go and people were hitting them today. Saw some edits.

Obviously technically you can't I didn't say you could I know nothing. Just trying to give you a shout. Midweek theres more people around working. There's snow off the parking lots too. Lots of sledders today.

So if you're jonesin for a fix send it.

Looked like summit was getting nuked too.

People generally don't give af I just don't know for sure. Usually mon-thursday is the workweek atm for a lot of people. Could be changing. They're at the top of disco. It's not a far walk and honestly should be able to do it any day without talking to anyone. I would say park in A lot and just go around the side toward gold hills. I doubt anyone would say anything to you.

Just saying that more just in case. but snow all around up there so you could at least get some turns on the unlikely chance you got kicked out. I'll be working at the pumphouse nearby and I don't care what anyone does. I can't really see from where I'll be working so Ill ignore it lol.

Thanks man. Idk just trying to learn things and build things. Wait till you see who we got to help us on contract for some builds.

I'm the only park guy this season so will be slamming 5 or 6 days. My boss will fill in for a day or 2 off until i can train somebody up to maintain.

But we got a solid guy coming. I don't know him that well but hes a sick builder and we've been chatting about parks for years. Stoked to have him on board. Our jumpline should be fire.

Also ordering some steel so probably 2 small beginner rails coming. Like a 10 and 12 foot ish to go with our small boxes arena built us.

Might try and get a wallride and ztube built as well. How deep into the season any if these get done who knows but some new shit is coming.
 
Also regarding snow.

We arent going to open this weekend. Hopefully we dont loose to much this weekend. There's some good turns up top but snow is pretty blower and theres not much base. Powder bowl might still have an okay base.

Im not going to bother going out but some friends have. If you really want it you can get it in, but it's not craxy epic, lower mountain looks a little spicy.

Lots of people touring. Shits pretty good to go. Send it just dont knock over the other rails. They aren't in the way though.

Idk, if you come up tomorrow it'd be a maybe, Sat might be even worse. It's gonna rain. We got better base snow 2 days ago and about 4 or 5 inches of blower at the bottom yesterday. I didn't go up but prolly the best day to tour so far.

Pray for not a fuck ton of rain though. Some rain is needed for the snowpack right now but we might get a fuck ton of rain.

forecasts are saying rain up to 8000’ all day tomorrow. as much as i’m fiending for turns i don’t really feel like driving 2hrs to get drenched :/

was hoping to be up earlier this week but i had classes. next time it snows or if there’s base left next week i’m definitely there
