It’s official- Crystal Mountain is installing a Gondola this summer and building a terrain park for next winter!!

The gondola project will begin April 19- the day after we close for the season.

It will be open for the 2010/2011 ski season!

The base terminal will be where the current Mountain Market is

located and bring passengers to the top of Rainier Express and the

Summit House.

The progressive terrain park will go on Mr. Magoo and feature mainly rails, boxes and other jibs.

Stay tuned for more details!~

i hear they'll be making sure the park will adhere to FIS standards as to be extra extra progressive for all your back-full-full needs

You can say that for just about every resort with a gondola though. It's not so much of a convenience thing as it is a status thing. First/only gondola in Washington/PNW? That's going to be a huge crowd draw, in both winter and summer.

FUCK THE GONDOLA! they didnt even open up any new terrain and the crystal management is gonna make the season pass go way up in price.

That's fucking gay. It's not like chair 9 needs to be any more of a clusterfuck then it allready is. Now you're gonna have families getting pissed because there are undisciplined loud mouth punks in the lift line corrupting their kids while park rats will be pissed since their are 'gapers' in the park and in their way.

They should put it back down on quicksilver. That way it can just be cmac

punkfucks butting heads with park rat fuckpunks.

As for the gondolla, well I guess it will just make it quicker to get to chair 6 since it will seperate those heading to GV/ Northback from those headed to chair6

Yeah most of us Crystal locals all think that the gondola is a TERRIBLE IDEA... But on the other hand we are all so stoked for a terrain park that we have been asking for years for!

Oh and I have a question...

Those of you who currently have season passes to other mountains, are you considering buying a pass to Crystal next season instead?

I'm just wondering if anybody is going to make a switch because they're putting in a park.

Well I was considering switching, but then they decided to instal a park. So fuck that.

and I was only considering to switch since it would come out to about $350 after tax for me.

nope. i live in seattle. it's way too far of a drive when i can just go to snoqualmie to ski park. i might reconsider getting the 5 free days at crystal from my snoqualmie pass, but i'm definitely not getting a pass there. i guess it'll just be a little extra incentive to go.

not true at all, i ski the whole mountain switch all the time.

anyway

i think the gondola is a cool idea because it does take about 15 minutes to get from chinook to the top of rainier express, and it would be way more direct to get to the other parts of the mountain (green valley, northway)

and honestly the park will attract more beginners and square ass snowboarders that usually are on the other runs, which is a good thing for us

Yeah, ski patrol couldn't give a shit if you're skiing switch.

One upside to the gondola is that we'll be able to hotbox the shit out of one of those gondola boxes! hahaha good times are ahead of thee!

It all depends how the park is setup and the features that will "attract" beginners and snowboarders. But I can see the park having more skiers than snowboarders using it.

does anybody know if they are offering the bronze pass next season because i fear they will not offer it because of how much the gondola's gonna cost.

huh. i also have mixed feelings. im stoked for the park washington needs more parks. But a G-dola? come on what was the trip up the two chairs? 10 minuets? come on.....

yeah, just a bigg sales pitch. I wish they put a two person lift on the backside or something(those long ass runs that end too far out on 410). It seems like they try to attract "etiquette behavior" and people too much.

I wouldn't buy a season's pass to crystal next year just because of the cost. No terrain park is going to justify an $800 pass.

Billy gets the hook up because he works at Sturts. Not that he skis anymore.

There's no way I'm paying $800 for a xtal pass. It's a first year park; there's bound to be serious issues. Plus, the vibe up there is always so uptight.

But rails aren't FIS sanctioned? How can this possibly work? Not to mention GS skis don't work well on rails.
A park of only jibs usually sucks... a lot. Now... a mountain with a park-park, and a jib-park is a different story. aka mammoth
Oh, and no way in hell would I ever pay the pass prices Crystal wants. Plus... crystal sucks (not the terrain, just the place), so principle, aside from cost, would always deter me.

Anybody want to buy crystal day passes? the 12-18 age group or something, they were 55 but I'll sell for 40. I'm sure I won't use them all by the end of this season..

yee!

next year i think they're offering the 4-pack deal for $2000, like stevens.

but still overpriced...$60 a day! but it doesnt seem like its been too busy this year, most times i go lift lines are smaller than usual, so the gondola and park will "attract" people

it is the biggest mountain by skiable terrain in WA, so with a good snow year next year it will pop off

That was an amazing come back, what are you fuckin 13? why dont you come ski

with us attempt to keep up an stop being such a bitch an acting as if your just

so much cooler than everybody else.
