i have decided on carrying 2 pairs of goggles skiing out west. (1) crowbar with a fire lens. (1) crowbar with a ruby emerald lens (had to try it after my pink iridium snapped in the middle).

I would carry 3 pairs of goggles but this all seems excessive at that point.

No no and no. Persimmon is good for days where the sun breaks out between clouds, where the light is still kind of low. It's decent in all conditions. Clear is onlny good for night, which hi yellow is also good for because it is a super low light lens. He has fire irid, he doesn't need grey polarized.

Yellow isn't a good mid-range lens though, which is why he has the persimmon. Mid-range as in borderline sunny but still cloudy days, or high overcast days. Those days where it could either start to snow or clear up and be sunny. You could upgrade the persimmon to an emerald irid or blue irid though, something a bit more techy but still does the same midrange stuff.
I use my emerald for every condition but whiteout/blizzard/night riding, where I use my hi yellow. It's an ideal combo personally, though on really really bright bluebird days something darker could be nice.

After owning numerous pairs of Crowbars I find that I enjoy being able to break parts on them and replace them/customize them, but I am thinking of Smith I/O's as my next addition

They are pretty wicked looking

Yah I would say get the new Airbrake or the Splice just cuz you can change the lenses so easily in both. I have two pair of splice frames with four lenses, its so much easier to carry around lenses than whole goggles! but those all look sick man, the crowbar was my fav for a while till splice came out cuz its a lil bigger

don't, smith lenses fucking suck compared to oakley

the only goggle I have been happy with switching to has been EG2s, and I just deal with the lack of lens selection for the added field of view

EG2 lens' suck even worse than smith ones though, at least what I had did anyway... My I/O lens' never fog, then again it's not humid where I ski.
