sorry to thread jack. but i was looking into some crowbars and i was curious what people thought would be the most effective lens for skiing in the east(vermont mostly and a bit of CT) would fully mirrored be a bad choice if im gunna be faced with all sorts of weather?

i ski the east and black iridium is great and fire is a bit lighter so it should work fine for variable conditions. I mean its a little sketchy at night but not a huge deal

Clear - 83%

HI Yellow - 81%

HI Persimmon - 63%

Persimmon - 62%

Pink Iridium - 57%

VR50 - 50%

G30 - 30%

Blue Iridium - 30%

VR28 - 28%

Gold Iridium - 20%

Black Iridium - 18%

Fire Iridium - 16%

all of the iridium lenses are somewhat mirrored, but gold, black and fire are straight up 100% reflective.

those three are steeze to the maaaxxxx.

but not practical for anything than bluebird.

blue iridium i thought was very versatile for everything except like night. pink is alright, but not the best when super sunny. hi persimmon might work well too, but idk how that is on full on sunny days.

i would recommend blue irid though

you want a fucking e-cookie or something?

since you don't actually have the goggles you have no idea how they perform I was just talking from personal experience, maybe instead of trying to argue with whatever I say you can do something more constructive on this site

blue iridium i have it is perfect for all conditions. and yes fully mirrored would not be a good choice in the east coast. unlike the west, we dont get 100% sun every day, so blue irid is perfect for us with mostly cloudy days

that may be true, but you didnt need to blow up on him like that

technically, you were incorrect, and he posted the correct tints. and its not like he called you an idiot or something, just pointed out you were incorrect.

and to the other guy right above me, you are correct. blue irid is the best all around lense ive used. but ideally get 2 lenses. a super dark one like black irid or fire for sunny days, and pink or hi yellow for cloudy days.

here's my take on crowbar lenses:
most versatile lens- hi-persimmonbest mirrored- black iridbest low light- hi-yellowbest night- clear or pink iridblue irid is another good all around lens but in general you should have 2 lenses, a mirrored like black or fire and a low light

is it? cuz i know hi yellow always made my eyes hurt whenever it got remotely light out, which i thought was the hi intensity coating

sorry but there is a history of this guy intentionally calling me out on anything he can thats why it pissed me off and though he did post actual information i was simply posting an opinion that was based off personal experience and an opinion can't be wrong

Yes Hi-Persimmon is the most versatile but I like Black Irid. for everyday and Clear for night riding

is gold really fully reflective?

i have a gold lens and always thought it wasnt. gold is pretty versatile in my opinion, i use it for clouds and storms. i use greypolarized for bluebird and fire for sunny. persimmon for night.

those are my 4 lenses and they all work pretty good for everything, but fire and grey are too dark for anything but sun, gold is a tiny bit too light for bluebird but it still works fine, persimmon pretty much shitty for all except fog and night.

just some info based on experience,

ps. dont ask why i have 4 pairs of crowbars

I definitely don't own the goggles...

And i have had hands on experience with 5 or 6 lenses.

Black and Gold are about as dark as it gets,

I can say that my preference are pink and blue irid. I like the pink irid the most. more versatile.

but in overall darkness, black and gold take it

You might want to go to your local Oakley Vault, and check a few lenses out. I don't know if there are any in your area... i have 4 or 5 near me.

i wanted to get fire for this summer but then use them next season im in the east will i be fine with fire iridium during the winter on non sunny days?

yeah, grey jost looks fucking cool so i had to pick it up for 40 when i could

fires acctually darker than grey, i just like the polarizedness

im thinking im gunna put grey in my new jp setup and get rid of persimmon, slap my antirfreeze rigs on my blue blocs and get a high yellow pink or clear for fog/night

so im a noob, with some cash to spend on some c bars, and i was wondering if polarized lenses were worth the $$$?

no way we have sun everyday when you live in washington your pale ass gets blinded when it comes back

I have the grey polarized lens and it is probably the sickest lens i have ever used. Amazing for day time use. Colours are more vibrant and no glare from the sun to snow.

i have black pink, and blue. blue is cracked now, but that was originally my only lense. def the most versatile. pink is pretty damn light. black is pretty damn dark

the coating on the hi intensity is nice though in fog/snow/rain because it helps a lil with the flatness situation.

clear for night, hi-yellow for fog
i have so many crowbar lenses right nowi have:clearhi-yellowblack iridblack iridvr28 polarizedblue iridium

If you want a lense to do it all then go for HI-Persimmon, I skied all season with it pretty much everyday and it did the job well every time.

However I would still get a black iridium for super sunny days, the HI-Persimmon works fine but it would just be a bit more comfortable when i know its gonna be really sunny.
