Cross Country Road Trip, need car advice.

Title says it. In 2-3 years i plan on taking a cross country road trip with 3-4 others. We'll be starting in Maine, and eventually make it to Hood. I am wondering if people have advice for a van? I want it to get decent gas mileage(its a van blah blah blah) decent gas mileage for a van. and also it has to be able to last that long. And i am asking for advice now so i know how much $ we will need for a car

get a sprinter, it is the one in the traveling circus. They make smaller ones, and they get like 21 mpgs. They are diesel too, btw
 
dodge, they are pretty cheap if you get a used one. You can get them for around 5k. They are pretty sweet and lot of room. And do what the TC did, get some 2x4s and build storage and bunk beds. The perfect cross country vehicle!
 
1999 chrysler town and country all wheel drive with big roof rack, decent room, 25 mpg, won't get stuck in snow, probably buy one for $3500
 
I just bought a ma fuckin GMC saffari. old bitch gets 18 mpgs high way and worse in town BUT i can put 6 homies in there comfortable and she'll go anywhere. she was cheap, and has low milage, bird will GO. Plus its got a 30 gallon tank so who cares about gas mileage anyways, the faster gas is depleted the better.
