Critique this (very) short timelapse :D

What am I supposed to critique? It only last a few seconds lol. The music was pretty ok, not my style though. Colour seemed nice to me, the forest & clouds worked well together. The jump looked pretty shit and you didn't even hit it... that was the most disappointing part. Speed was good.

Yea, not much to critique. Well..this is going to be the beggining of a backyard edit so you will see me and my friends hit it...thanks for the feedback. :-)

Okay, so general consensus is no to the music..I will try and come up with a better song next time. And the vignette, a no? I just threw it in there, but I guess it looks good, or better without it. Thanks guys.

Maybe just be, but if it's noticeable it's too much. And yours is instantly noticeable. Try toning it down at least.

You put your camera on a tripod and pressed record, do something cooler next time. People are all like omg timelapses are so fucking cool! but its literally the easiest thing you can do and unless you have a sick slider setup/motor or some unreal location timelapses are pretty boring.

I realize that it's not the coolest or most advanced thing to do with a camera in any means, I just wanted to try it out. I asked for criticism, and I get that you aren't particularly impressed by it, but no need to hate.

PS : I love the videos you put out, and obviously value your opinion, so thank you for that at least.

Eheath didnt say anything about hating it, all he said is that its not the most creative thing so you should stay away from it

Maybe I should not have used the word hate...he came off harsh, but I get that. It is all good I will try to do some more creative things as I start getting into filming.

It was more me hating on time lapse videos in general. Everyone posts up videos of time lapses and most of them are 5 minute videos with 4 and 1/2 mins of really boring time lapses. I'm sorry if it came off harsh, I did the same shit when I was younger so I'm not hating, just saying be creative :)

Hahaha, thanks for clearing that up. I am just getting into film, been around photography for a while and thought I would give the film aspect a shot. I guess timelapses are cool but a bit overused and cliche. Thanks for all the constructive criticism guys, I really do appreciate it.

I like the idea, but the execution could use a little work. The shot seemed very wide for the amount of action that was actually occurring - my eyes originally began following your progress on the jump, but quickly shifted to just watching the clouds in the background. I would maybe move the camera to a tighter shot, closer to the rail to put a heavier focus on you shoveling/building. Also, be careful about the angle of the sun and where you are putting your camera - the tripod shadow was distracting and fairly obvious and could have been avoided easily.

Also, as a slight aside, you don't need to limit yourself to one angle within a timelapse. A way to make your timelapse more dynamic and engaging, especially when involving the building or setup of something, is to change the angles somewhat frequently. You will end up with a handful of mini-timelapses, but when put together in sequence, they can build a much stronger story.

I hadn't even thought about that. Creating many "mini" lapses will probably make a much more unique experience to the viewer. I like it. Thanks you Dayzed. That is exactly what I needed.

In all honesty you don't need a motorized slider, you could probably zoom in the slightest bit afterwards and slooooowly keyframe it to whatever direction you want. A little movement is nice
