so i just got a Cannon hv40 at the start of the season and i made two edits please critique them.
Mount Snow 3.7.10 from Chris DeJohn on Vimeo.

Feb Break at Mt.Snow from Chris DeJohn on Vimeo.

Put some follow cam's in there to switch it up, other then that I liked them both, preferably the first over the second.

the shots are mostly under exposed. I would expose it a bit brighter, dont think so much about the snow but more about your rider. Most importantly, color correct your shots after. If you have color corrector 3 way you can even make the snow less bright and keep the rest normal. but add more contrast to your shots.

otherwise, one personal thing... im sick of seeing chairlifts in skiing videos.

I just watched the first one, it was good. I really like the multiple shot effect you had on the up rail and other rails, if you can keep this in all of your edits then your set. One thing that should be changed is variety. Dont put shots from the same feature over and over, instead mix it up, have a jump shot followed by a rail shot. Less slow motion, i know alot of people think that slow motion can make an edit amazing, although to much of it kills an edit. try to throw in a few more shots at normal speed. lastly everything that matt said above, make sure you lighting is on point so that its more appealing to your viewers.

Good luck!

this, too many slow mo shots, brighten the footage up in post, your filming style seemed very static, mix it up a bit, try some longer panning shots.

this. especially the chairlifts.. but yea, work on color correcting, flighting, and work with the saturation, brightness, etc to make it look better

[GASP!] Shame on you! If tastefully used and not overdone, chairlifts look great in videos - they're so crucial to the experience.

I'll get you a better critique when I have more time mate.
