Critique my editing

that wasnt bad at all. i like straight cuts on beats and if you do it well (you did in the beginning) there good with no beat sometimes too. i like that first part where the kid goes up to the rail, then it switches to the 270 on and the fall. that really went with the music well. same with that sweet press done by a snowboarder

your footy is pretty shaky.

other then that, you did what you could with your editing. I can't tell what you did with CC or anything, but you could definitely get your picture a little more interesting with basic cc and contrast.

The editing wasn't bad. Make the dissolve effect quicker next time, i think it looks better when the white pops for like 1 second rather then 3 seconds.

I know filming small sessions like that with a ton of people around is hard, but move back a little bit more and frame the whole body of the rider in the shot before he even hits the rail then slowly zoom in while hes moving away and continue to keep his whole body in the frame, don't stand right next to the box and only get their feet in and then have their whole body in at the end. You can do a lot with long lens, be creative.

thanks. i've never actually dabbed into the field of color correcting, im gunna look into that someday soon. thanks for the tips guys, keep em coming.

shitty premier elements 3

i've tried vegas before and didn't like it, and premier cs3 didn't wanna run on my computer so i just stuck with PE3 for now. within a few years im thinking of getting a macbook pro and might get FCP then

Hmmm, I actually liked that a lot. I'm with you in that I have no idea how to color correct, and I'm just getting into using colory effects. I'm much more into the aesthetic/artsy mode of video.

Audio was a bit overwhelming. Turn it down a bit so we don't have to?

You're noob shots were funny. That one kid who ate it was so intense. Jerk, haha. jk.

I liked that white fade in the beginning. That came out well and added the suspense to that long in run, which was nice as well. Good skiing too.

Different angles would've helped. You were in relatively the same spot the whole time. You weren't too close or too shaky, it was just redundant.

Overall I'd give that an 8.5 out of 10. I liked it, good work man. Your HV20 footy looks great!

(PS: What are your export settings/how do you get it to be a flash file on blip?)

i export from premier as a M2T file, or mpeg. So its basically out putting raw, a little less quality. Then I import into MpegStreamclip and export as 5000 kbs, 100% quality, 2 pass, deinterlaced. Then i import to blip (going back to vimeo soon) and go down to the right side of the page and click on files and links, and get the .mov link.
