first time editing and this is what I came up with.

My season edit:

dont know anything about color corection or any of that shit, wanna learn. Just put shots together and added some slo mo and a song lol

edit was dope. didn't really see anything wrong with the color, a lot better than some of the flat light gopro edits out. but it seemed really professional and well done. got no criticism or anything wrong with it haha, so nice edit.

Honestly that was ill. Some of the slowmo was a bit choppy and some shots could have been smoother but the only thing that really got me was the ending. You should have faded it out instead of the abrupt stop. That's all I really got. Good job for your first time editing something out.

Cool edit overall, here are some things to keep in mind next time.

Don't cut to black unless there is some sort of meaning for it. Cutting to black pulls away from the audiences attention. We want to keep the viewer engaged at all times! I saw a light leak in there somewhere, light leaks should be used as a transition for the most part. Try adding them between the cuts you make. It's okay to have them overlaid on top of your video playing throughout, but put them there for a reason. There was a clip in there with a totally different aspect ratio. If its really necessary to use it in the project, don't just have black behind it. There are different techniques to use these clips without having just black behind them. I don't mind the cut to black at the end, in film I don't really think it matters weather your picture cuts or fades to black, but at lease fade the audio out and don't have it just stop. The slow motion is fine, but if you want smoother slow motion, shoot at 30 or 60 fps with a 180 degree shutter. Hope this helps for your next projects!

All I could notice was choppy slow-mo. My rule of thumb is to never go past 50% of original duration. (60 fps / 2 = 30 fps... which is what you render at, so it will look smooth)

Was sick seeing some Rabbit shots in there. I live in Edmonton too. Message me if you wanna film this year.

This was enjoyable, and great for your first time! Color correction is easy to do, hard to master. Take a shot at it, some minor tweaks here and there could improve the edit but for the most part it was good. Maybe a little less black fades in the beginning, and fade out the audio/smooth out the end a bit but overall I liked it

Thanks everyone! Definitely seeing all the things you're pointing out but I am stoked how the edit came out and how well it's doing, I know it's summer but got video of the day and it's at the top of the home page so that got my hyped.

Thanks man, that would be sick I'd be down to film with you but I just graduated high school and I'm gonna be moving to whistler for the whole winter

For a first edit this is pretty decent. There really isnt anything major wrong with it, only a few small things that you could work on. most of it has been said already so i will talk about stuff that hasnt

start with some form of establishing shot. where you are, who you are etc. you started with skiing clips right off the bat. your edit is a story your telling the audience, you dont want to jump into the story at the middle

some of the clips are a bit shaky, a little more practice with your filming rig is the best way to fix this, but sometimes that cant be avoided - especially when you hand the camera to someone else to film. you can fix some shake in post. (sony vegas has sony stabilize, after effects has warp stabilizer etc) although you dont want to use too much or it will make your clips look like jello.

other than that great edit, especially for your first one. I ski Rab as well, if you dont end up moving to whis hit me up this winter

depends on what framerates ur cam offers... if you shoot at 120 fps then that's chyll, 240 even more chyll. Rule of thumb is to never slow it past 24 lol
