Critique a wakeskate edit

Pretty good overall, but there are a few things you could do to really take it to the next level. The first thing that stood out to me was the colors. it looked like it was shot on at least 4 different cameras. not sure what you film with, but if you can, shoot manually, and if not at least try to make the footage look similar in post. some had great lighting, some the sky was clipping, and some looked very over saturated. Also, the song seemed to fit nicely with the sunset, but it was a little confusing having a really mellow song with fast paced tricks and cutting. Both work, but not always together. Lastly, I like how you tried to ramp the slow motion, but some of it seemed like it was slowed down too much and was getting stuttery
 
yeah thats the exact thing i was thinking while i was editing, I havent really discovered too many ways to get different angles while filming on the water and stabilization as well. thanks for the advice +K

I liked it, but like everybody else has been saying it just needs a bit more stabilization and maybe mix up the angles, I definitely can see how angle variation gets hard when your on a jet ski but maybe try getting on another boat and filming from there (may not be possible ha ha but just a thought). Also maybe try getting your hands on a gopro and getting a painters pole and using a palo alto adapter and filming from higher, a guy made a little video using it on an electric skateboard and it looked pretty sweet and it was pretty smooth.

Thanks. Grey actually does have a GoPro with a pole mount. we were thinking about putting someone on a tube and have them film from there. +k
 
I think the biggest thing then would be to shoot everything manually, like in clouding wb and focus, that way it won't change between shots. If you need to adjust something for light, do aperture or iso. That should help you get good but also consistent quality in your shots
 
pretty good, try some follow cams from another boat/ski if you can. one thing that bothered me a bit was your landings were off from the bass, try line up the beat more with the takeoffs/landings/tricks, you were almost a full second off on some, and others were right on, possibly try leave another half second or so after landing the trick as well. obviously you wont be able to line up every shot, but the more the better for sure.
