My dad wants to go out there this winter but i say squaw, so which on is better. I know the x games were at crested butte but do they have a park at all since it is known as an extreme place? And i remember last year that they had like a 20 inch base in january so where should we go?

The Face of a child says it all, especially the mouth part.

Crusty is NUTS. I'd say go there, but I'm from the east coast and I'd take powder over park in a second, so I dunno.

I lived down in CB for a year - went with my parents and dropped out of college when I got home - so I am partial to it. The mountain is sick - best I have ever skied for technical steeps and cliffs. The problems are 1. snow and 2. there is no dedication to the park - if they even have one right now. The last couple of years the snow has been super-shitty, but you never know. Squaw has more variety and a nice park, so if the snow sucks it doesn't matter. Good luck.

When the snow is good at CB, it will definitely be worth it, but it is always so questionable. A crappy early season and CB might only be 50 oe 60% open in jan. so you just never know.

I haven't been to a ton of mountains out west, but been to CB a few times with my family and it is amazing. crazy big mountain terrain, park has been apparently gettin much bigger and better recently, and its in the middle of nowhere. fucking beautiful. rarely ever crowded, too. highly recommend it.
