Crested Butte Hype?

If I wasn't managing a ski shop in Breck, I'd be living in gunni/CB in a heartbeat. Even in chalk conditions that place skis so well, mostly because everyone who skis the steeps actually knows how to ski well haha

Without question some of the most gnarly inbounds terrain. It will absolutely challenge anyone. Everyone is really good. Get ready. Eat at the firebrand when you in gunnison.

if you love low tide conditions all the time, sketchy high consequence terrain, brutally cold weather, and heavy localism you will have a blast!

sounds like this will remind me of my home land back in AK

been there a couple times with family. fucking amazing mountain in every way. coming from an east coaster who sucks, even the smaller lines and drops were hella intense and frankly terrifying. the mountain has so much character and so does the town. i bought weed from the chick working at the rocky mountain chocolate factory. apparently she was on the run from utah police and living in colorado or some shit

went to school there years ago and loved every minute of it. Used to have a big Sour Steezle crew out there, still some of them ski it everyday. I skied CB just about everyday for 4 years and knew most of the trails in and out, but still room to explore. You're gonna love it, this is the best time of year right now, so much hype and it'll start snowing anyway now

That's my situation now. Still meeting new freeskiers everyday! Town of Gunnison and Crested Butte are like no other. Can't wait to shred that gnar pile called CB

Ski bummed there last year and absolutely loved it. Great people, humbling terrain and great backcountry.

Expect to ski every condition but powder. Especially rock.

a lot of people say this, but honestly if you're skiing everyday, you'll have a number of great pow days at Crested Butte. You might even luck out and have a year like I did my freshman year, where there were multiple pow days a week. Even if it's not dumping at Crested Butte, go a mile or two into the backcountry and they get twice as much snow almost every storm. So many good backcountry areas out there, make friends with the right people and you'll be able to get out there via sled or just skin up the irwin trailhead to axtel and ski those bowls. It's no Utah, but if you try, you can make it so it's pretty damn close. Here's an edit filmed at the resort, some of the lightest snow I've ever skied.

Look up sour steezle on vimeo and youtube if you feel like getting stoked for this winter. Almost every ski video is filmed in the backcountry around CB
