Creative zen micro...anybody have one?

i have the original zen 30gb... now i use it as an external drive becuase i have a ipod shuffle for music because its really cheep and small... there good if ur more computer literate and dont want to spend cash... u can do alot more things with it but the sound quality isnt as good as an ipod... I am really satisfied with my shuffle... everyone gives me shit becuase it can only hold 100 songs and there is no screen but who needs a screen when u can listen to the music to tell what song it is and who listens to more than 100 songs... personally right now there are like 7 songs im currently really into haha
 
i have one, it's not bad. i have the black faced one, 5gig. it works, just takes a bit to get used to. thing's a tank though. i've dropped it on the ground numerous times and it's not busted yet. i need an ipod though, i have way too much music.
 
i dunno, i'm sort of skeptical about bigger zen players. they weigh about 10 pounds, they're big in size, and my brother fried the hard drive in his like 3 weeks after he got it.
 
the batteries in the creatives last? that is my one complaint with the zen mirco. i can go about one album before the battery dies. i'm sure it's just mine though.
 
Stop fucking around and spend the extra $50 on an iPod. The zen micro might work OK as a player, but the catch is the software.

If you want a pretty well designed, easy way to load songs onto an MP3 player, iTunes kills it. If you want an easy, hassle free way to enjoy buying songs online, with no bullshit "subscription" issues, where you really actually OWN the songs you buy, iTunes kills it. If you want a music player that isn't full of crap, iTunes kills it, though the oldschool charm of WinAmp is still cool.

Basically, the iPod is just as good an MP3 player as a creative zen/micro (fuck off with the FM tuner/other garbage shit, none of you use it, so it's not an issue), and the software you need to use it is better than any other alternative.

Why be different and/or save $50 when you're better off spending the $50 now and enjoying a hassle-free portable MP3 player now, rather than spending $50 less and getting a player that isn't quite as good, with shitty software?
 
well when i had a 30 gig i had about 4000 songs on it but i had a playlist with the 30 that i just played... think about it... a normal person really only listens to 2 or 3 cds when there driving around in their car
 
You forgot the part where I said "iTunes loads songs onto your iPod easier than anything else"

Oh, and, uh, it also rips CDs really well, and fast. So, again, iTunes helps you, and it doesn't take a degree in computer science with a minor in design to understand it and use it well.
 
Itunes is the shittest software i have ever encounterd. I wish they would just make a mp3 player that lets you click and drag all your shit like an external drive.
 
yes it is shitty because it is made by apple. you can drag and drop any file onto a player if it is set up as a HD. It should show up in my computer
 
My sister has one and I had an old Zen. As a player they're nice and e4asy to use, but you have to use Creative's shitty software to transfer files to and from it. Get an iRiver - www.iRiver.com - and you can just drag and drop files from it in Windows.

bigger than the nano

built in fm tuner and microphone

hold alot of music

comes with better quality ear buds

doesnt convert ur files to poop(keeps them in mp3)

easy to use

cheaper than ipod
 
and durable

i fall on it all the time and its still good

also the battery can be replaced withoug getting a new one so u can have mulitlple batteries. and they charge really quick, in about an hour charge i can go for about 6 hrs with the backlight off
 
theres nothing wrong with the creative zen micro except im having a headphone jack problem at the moment and every once in a blue moon it will freeze up (iPods do it also). These things are very durable, ive dropped mine outta the van and outta my locker a couple times and it still works.
 
i have a creative zen touch and this thing is a fucking rock. I have actually dented the case in about a cm in the back it still works perfectly. The 24hr battery life (actually around 20 for mine) is probably the best part. My friend has a zen micro and she says she likes it. Its cool because it has a removable battery so like you can carry 2 around and when yours completely dies you can replace it easily. Def a good buy in my opinion. Creative makes some good mp3 players, they're cheaper and dont have all that extra fluff though.
 
I have the zen micro photo 8gb, and I generally like it. It works great if you use a janus music service like rhapsody or napster. If you use one of those programs you can manage your music using the program instead of creative's shitty software. If you're just looking to play mp3's from cd's you ripped or downloaded it's nothing really special. The interface is nice and the touch pad is easy to use. I'd say if you want to use a windows/janus based music service this is the best microdrive player to get, otherwise you ought to take a look at an ipod or something like that. The ipod and the zen micro are both great music players, however, they have different strong points and weaknesses.
 
I have had both an Ipod 40 gig and a creative 20 gig and they both fried, i dont know why or how, but it happens sometimes, you cant say one does it more than another, cause in my case it happened to both, its just shit luck, do whatever you want...they were both good to me while they lasted
 
thge creative software is just an explorer.. u open it like you do a external drive and there are 2 folders "music" and "data" JUST DRAG AND DROP
 
actually my old iriver was just an extra harddrive on the computer. You could just drag and drop music files into there and it would play them. You could also put word documents on there and the player would display em so i used that to cheat on tests. But the downside is that you have to make all your own folders
 
No, from what I remember from my Zen, you need to drag and drop, then add all the files to the database, which was an extra annoying step that I'd forget about a lot of the time. iRivers work as external hard drives, which means true drag and drop and you can navigate by whatever folder structure you make.
 
well ive heard from a lot of ppl theyre really solid and from others they break easily. wats the deal?

Like, initially they're rad...but... well. more than a few people i know including myself have had them just completely commit suicide and cease working.
 
Ive owned 2 ipods and 3 creative zens

the ipods both just died and apple did not warranty them. they also dont have changable batterys, so you cant have continuis playback

my zens have lasted through so much shit (i was so irresbonsible with them) one survived a drop down my school stairs, one survived a trip through the washingmachine.

only one broke due to moisture from leaving it in my coat outside in -30 weather, and creaative warrantied it, the other one got stolen . now i have the mircophoto 8GB and i love it, the software is easy to use and you dont need to use that subscription service shit.

Basically the ZEN has much beter customer service and there arent gay things like sending it in when the battry dies

i have pics of me skiing switch on it so when someone at school talks smack about skiing i just whip it out and i'm like WHAT BITCH
 
oh yeah, and screw the software, i NEVER installed any of it... just plug in the usb cable and drag your songs onto it, never had a problem with mine

umm if you knew anyhting about an ipod you would know you can put it into disk mode and it shows up just like an external drive and you can click and drag shit in with the exeception of songs. although the battery blows while wathing videos on my ipod i honestly need the 40 gigs of space and it is great for a long day of skiing. just make an incredibly long playlist and put it on shuffle... then you have fresh tunes all day long. that my 2 cents though.
 
Dude you dont need to buy software for the zen to work. It comes with everything to install and then all you have to do is download limewire or you can pay for something and just load up the zen. I personally suggest napster if you get a zen because it has a lot of songs and you never get different song names on the player itself but if you can't or don't want to pay for that then just get limewire for free off the website.
