CREATINE

Hey ns, have any of you ever taken creatine? Ive researched it a bunch but i was wondering if you guys though it was safe. plus k for info!thanks!

creatine monohydrate powder before workouts or with protein shakes to get better muscle energy and shiet

I take 5g of Creatine Monohydrate daily right after my workout (whether its a lifting day or a cardio rest day) with protein. I noticed it can help to provide additional strength and explosiveness in the last few reps of an exercise. Note that it isn't going to help you much unless you really push yourself, its like a helping hand at your hardest point in a set.

i cannot stand when ppl who have no fucking clue what they r talking about say "its mostly water weight" take creatine, its been used in the lifting world for years and has proven to increase gains in muscular strength and muscular endurance

also, id look into some amino acids as well, super important for muscle recovery and energy as well

hell yeapick up some of this from gmc

He means a common side effect of taking creatine daily is bloating due to the amount of water that you should drink in order to safely digest and pass the creatine through your system. Creatine seems to help your body retain a bit more water than usual. I noticed a bit of bloating due to water weight when I began to take it and I am sure I still have some.

wow thanks for all the responces, plus k, but my questions is more is it going to effect me in the short or long run. I am 15. how long have you guys been using it?

dude has no idea what he is taking about. Creatine isnt safe, it is a relativly new supplement and we have no idea what sorts of horrible harmful effects it will have. All you will gain is water weight and acne.

PS dont ask fitness advice from a skiing website.

I would absolutely agree that since I started taking it, the last few reps of each set when lifting became more useful

i try not to even post in these threads anymore, haha its so ridiculous how clueless some ppl r because they "heard" something about it from a friends sisters boyfriend

There are not sufficient studies to state how safe creatine is as a long term product. But seeing as how creatine phosphate is one of the main energy sources for explosive, powerful, and short contractions (type 2 fibers) it is a useful supplement to push your muscles past a plateau. The benefit of creatine comes in giving you additional banks of energy in this form, and thus lifting more weight, and thus increasing your muscle mass by lifting more weight. The "water weight" is merely an effect of creatine being super efficient at shuttling water into the cell when it enters and thus you retain a bit more, but most people experience this because they freakout and OD on water. Just 12-16 oz. more than usual is sufficient to not get cramps or stomach aches. People just misunderstand how creatine is really working.

Back to safety, buy creatine monohydrate. It is the most studied in terms of effectiveness and the cheapest form. All the other forms are just marketing bullshit. Also, try to buy brands that use the Creapure brand of creatine. Best you can buy.

Also, don't do a loading phase. It isn't needed unless you 're really in a rush. Taking 5g a day and you will eventually reach the right amount either way. Loading is really just getting you to buy more product in my opinion.

Creatine monohydrate only. 5g/Day doesn't matter when you take it. Don't cycle creatine or load. JUST 5g a day anytime u want.. It's safe, peer review articles have been released on it

Yes it's safe and effective. Creatine and protein are probably the only things found in GNC that are actually in food and proven to be effective. If someone starts talking to you about loading, water weight, dying from creatine poisoning, or whatever new fucking wild ass theory they've come up with, just ignore it. Chances are you'll forget you took it.

Iv done 2 cycles of creatine, both lasting around 3 weeks. I took creapure mono hydrate creatine. The first week you should take 10mg/day for a "loading phase" to get your muscles full of creatine and then after a week drop it down to 5mg/day for a "maintenance phase".

I definitely noticed a little difference in my lifts, for example my incline DB press went up 15lbs by the end of the second cycle. Hope this helped

Sorry for double post, I found that taking it with breakfast on off days worked best for me and after my workout for training days. I mixed it with apple juice for a nice spike in insulin to get it into your system better.

I know someone who started taking creatine, and he gets extremely angry all of a sudden since he started taking it. Sorta like roid rage

Roid rage is a myth. These posts are always so stupid.

OP, since you're only 15 you probably don't need to take any supplements just yet. Keep eating right and just give yourself time to grow. You need to give your body time to fill out naturally before you start trying to get jacked.

Nothing is better for you than just eating well and working hard. All that other stuff is just bullshit. Isn't the point of working out to become healthier? Yet some many people throw creatine and god knows what else into their bodies. All in the name of "getting big."

What the fuck are you talking about it's one of the most scientifically researched things on the market it's very safe when taken properly.

Yeah man I understand your point. Just remember in the future, sometimes people like to say things without total sincerity for the purpose of humour.

Here I'll give you an example

zzzskis: "What colour is the sky?"

timmi: "red"

You see how when I gave an answer that clearly wasn't true it's absolutely hilarious?

It's called "sarcasm."

now go get 'em, tiger!

Iv taken creatine and i didnt see results that were worth tsking it, The only things that i noticed from it was i would cramp really quick during conditioning for baseball. In my legs and once i stopped i felt better then ever and no cramping. On the lifting side just eat the right way and youll see results faster then if you use creatine. I will never use it again

YEAH BROOOO THAT SHIT GETS ME MEGA JUICED WHEN I'M LIFTIN WITH MY BROS AND WORKIN THE FUNK MUSCLE.LOVE THAT CHUUUUNK

In my defense this is Newschoolers and when it comes to exercising people don't know what they're talking about, and I didn't detect any incredulity in your post.

You actually loose your hair if you do that shit, haha. A girl at my school just started doing it, hope she will loose all of her hair and look dumb as fuck

there is a reason things like creatine are called dietary supplements, they are all ready in your diet and are naturally in your body as well, as with anything the main bad things to come from taking supplements are kidney failure and getting fat from all the extra calories,

my advice: i take an all-in-one shake with whey protein, creatine, glutamine, vitamins and minerals etc. there is no real point just supplementing with creatine imo, balance your diet/supplementing, if you're gonna supplement go the whole way and all-in-one's are the easiest way to do this.

not sure whether you get it in the US but I use, PHD synergy iso-7, bearable tasting shake which takes all the hassle away

personally i dont believe that anyone should put that shit in their body. just eat lots of high protein foods, and drink water frequently.

that shit? a substance found in food and in our bodies? or are you just against supplementing in general, which is fair enough, the benefits are limited but they do exist?

No Reis,

Op, I start training like 2 years ago. I start taking some creatine after like 2 months or so. I was taking protein since day one. I start taking creatine in may, as for 20g each day for a week, 15g each day for the second week and 10g each day for the 2 other months, after that I took like 5g each day and 10g on workout day.

For me it work well, I took 25 pounds of muscle in 2 month in a half, but well that's not just because of the creatine, I was training 5 day each week and I was running 8k every two days. I eat very well, no more mcdonald, except for some time. But The biggest difference was that I double my strength.

People that say '' it's only water '' or '' you'll loose everything '' are dumb. I did 3 months of cross fit while taking some creatine and went in Revelstoke without lifting a single weight for 5 months and I lost barely nothing, took me 3 weeks and I'm as strong as before, just lost some shape, but every normal people will loose some shape.

Creatine just causes you to gain water weight. Although it does "help" with the recovery of muscles and does give you a strong drive during your workout the negatives out weigh the positives in my eyes. I have taken a number of creatine based supplements and once you stop taking the creatine your water weight will drop and you will basically go back to how you were before with no improvements. If you want to truly gain muscle, workout, take lots of protein and a multi vitamin. If you want fast results and want to look "big" look into jacked or something like that but beware once you stop taking it your going to shrink down and be back at square one.

i cannot get over how clueless ppl are, i just want to shake everyone in this thread with the exception of a few

LOOK UP THE FACTS BRO, it even states the fact that it causes water weight, thats how it replenishes the muscles. Creatine causes water to be absorbed into the muscles thats why you balloon up on this stuff but when you stop taking it you loose everything. Ive taken multiple supplements and creatine is one of the definites i would never go back to. Take a nitric oxide if youre really trying to get that energy boost from your workout.

BRO DO U EVEN LIFT BRO? do u gain weight while on creatine? yes for MOST ppl, is it from water weight? SOME of it is form water weight. Will u lose it once u get off of it? What do u mean lose it? do u mean hypertrophy of the muscles? NO u do not, the creatine helps recovery of the muscle fibers and thus increases muscular strength and endurance, will u lose some size when u get off of it? Possibly, but not shrink back to before u were on it. Where r u getting facts from?

i can see how i slightly contradicted myself when i said hypertophy then lose size, u may lose some size, but not much at all, everyones body is different, i NEVER have bloated while on creatine, while some of my friends have. Its the most used supplement in the lifting world, why would it be if it didnt work? or if it had horrible side effects? point is, it works and doesnt have bad side effects if taken properly, and the person is properly hydrated
