Im considering taking Creatine to bulk up for highschool football. Does anyone kno how well it works from experience or about any side effects?

isnt that the stuff in steroids? if it is then i know somebody older than me who takes it and when he gets off it he gets really fat, the gets strong when hes on it. also, i heard you cant your dick up if you take steroids (NOT personal experiance :)

 
I know quite a few people that are on it and they're all football players. Go for it. It will definately help yo bulk up. Just remember that it puts water in your muscles and that water wil lgo away when you stop taking it. But you will still have increased muscle mass. The key when taking creatine is taking LOTS of water.

creatine realy helps if you lift on a regular scheule. u take 3 before and 3 after your workout to get gigger. and u can also take abut 5 n hr before a game for a burst of energy. try twin lab.

dont do it...i play football and dont use it. tastes like crap and can kill you if u use too much. Although if u do use it correctly, it can have the same affect as steroids, but the downside is that one u stop using it and stop being as active, u turn into a fat eric cartman.

I dunno I lifted for about 7 months last fall and I didnt gain any weight but I got hella strong. My friend said he used to take a shitload of creatine in highschool for rugby and football and now hes type 1 diabetic not to say that gave it to him but he said they coincided. Fuck it man lift weights let your body decide how much weight it wants to put on thats the safest bet.

Dont do creatine, there are other enhancers out on the market.

I personally use Protein Whey. If you are a reciever, or any other position that requires running besides QB, and RB then dont take it. What i find is that the muscles expand, but they seem to lose density. After maxing out workouts i always take my Whey, because it expands your muscles and it actually is not sore the day after. However, you should always have a performance workout, a lotta reps with decent weight and not take it to regain the muscle density.

Here are some effects that i have noticed while on Whey, and working out. I sometimes feel i wanna kill and/or fuck anything that moves, excessive underarm sweat, insomnia, massive amounts of energy, stretch marks on my arms, shoulders, and armpits, and the final one is getting muscles that ure skin sometimes cant support. You can tell this when you are maxing out, and all of a sudden everything seems extremely tight. Its an awesome sensation.

Whey should not be a reason to get kicked off, as it can also be used to medicate strained muscles.

I learned about this in science. Creatine contains ATP, the main energy your muscles use. You eventually run out of your natural stock of atp when lifting. Basically, you are running out of ATP after lifting for a while. With additional ATP, you might be able to do 8 reps of a certain exercise later in your workout, but because its almost gone, you can only do 6 or 7. Creatine gives you that additional ATP. 1 or 2 more reps makes a big difference. There are no harmful effects of creatine if the right dose is taken. If any isn't used by the body, you just piss it out. My friend has taken it for a while and he's fine and pretty strong. I'm guessing it works.

fuck who cares if it has effects, i dont, ive taken creatine before and without supplements you dont build nearly as much muscle as you do without, just stick to a strict diet when using supplements and your body will change pretty damn fast if your eating right, and as for steroids, im gonna do them whenever i get the chance and the extra cash to do it, just do your reasearch on the type you want, the genital shit is all a myth, sure some might but who cares, if you get massive in 3 months, you might only get that size in the next 10 years

The truth about creatine is that all it is doing is volumizimg the cells in your muscleS and thus cutting down recocery time and lactic acid (THE BURNING FEELING YOU GET WHEN YOU LIFT).creatine will make you bigger but alot of it is water weight. if you really want to put on weight drink alot of protein. and be sure you are taking at least 1.5 grams of protein per lb of your bodyweight everyday. and whatever you do do not cut out carbs!

so many stupid replies to this. It is NOT a steroid. And someone said take 3 before, 3 after? 3 What? The package will list the serving size, and the grams of Creatine delivered in that serving size. Typical use is 5 g 45-60 minutes pre workout, and 5g after.

Whey Protein, despite what someone else said, is not at all in the same category as creatine or other enhancers. Taking whey protein simply gives your body more protein, and is easier to consume than eating shitloads of beef, chicken, tuna, etc. You're supposed to get around 1G protein per each pound of lean body mass you have if you're lifting. This is difficult to do just eating food.

But back to creatine, if you're lifting on a consistent basis, and have gotten to a point where you are having trouble making gains, consider taking it. However, I wouldn't take it if I were under 17 or 18, and I would use reccomended doses. And yes, drink lots of water while on it, although you should drink a lot of water daily regardless, it's healthy.

Lastly, about alcohol, though I haven't read any specific problems caused by drinking while on creatine, it probably could be overloading your liver. But regardless, alcohol inhibits muscular growth, so if you're taking creatine and drinking regularly, you're negating the effects anyway.

 
as far as we know, creatine is safe and it will give you the results you want, but as someone said before, we still don't know long term effects. you're best bet is probably to eat a shitload of protein and carbs spread over 5 or six meals a day, while taking whey protein before and after your workout. mix the whey powder with orange juice, too, it helps you retain the protein better and quicker. i usually put the powder in a blender with oj, ice, and some fruit, it tastes good.

Okay most of these people don't know what they are talking about. Creatine doesn't actually help you bulk up. THose people are probably also using a protein shake in order to increase their muscle mass. Esentially all Creatine does is allow you to have a more intense workout than you normally would have. You'll get stronger but not nessicarily bulkier from using it. Also use it in cycles 6 weeks on 6 weeks off. I'm not really quite sure the reason for this but my uncle who is a sports science teacher at Arizona U said it's a good idea. The only side effect that I've seen from it was with my friend. He used it constantly fo about 4 months and got really bulky pecks but they felt like girls boobs. There was no muscle in them at all. I didn't have the same effect at all but I didn't use nearly as much as he did. It's good stuff though and it also helps recovery time from hard workouts.

didn't read the other posts but creatine mostly helps you retain water, and thus bulk up. When you go off of it, if you don't stick to an even stricter training program, you WILL get fat, unless you have a really high matabolism. I've seen 4 of my friends take it, the only one who didn't put on 20 or 30lbs after going off it was in judo full time. You'd be better off to bulk up the old fashion way..

rip is an idiot, the first or second ingredient in cell-tech is creatine. all cell-tech is, is dextrose(sugar, put in to spike your insulin levels to trasnsport the creatine into the cells)and creatine. it has a few other acids that aid in recovery but fo that your better off taking glutamine.just make your own cell-tech. it is half the price.

I know lots of Olympic ski race hopefulls on Creatine. They use it to delay fatigue when working out. This way they can work out longer and not get tired. I'm not sure too much about it but I know some people who regret taking it because they have awful moodswings and they get realy aggressive, or really emotional. All I know...

Creatine doesn't bulk you up, it lets you work out longer and harder because it tops up your body's supply of ATP which is the fuel you use for muscular exertion. As well, whey protein does not give you mood swings or make you more aggressive, it just give you more calories from protein, which you need to build/rebuild your muscles. By taking the right amount of creatine once a day and intaking 1.5 grams of protein per lbs of body weight as well as obviously doing a low rep high weight workout routine, you will put on muscle mass.

creatine does add mass, it fills the tears in muscle from lifting with water molecules...lift seriously for about 1-2 months because in that time you make rapid natural gain, once you being to plateau and stop making the same progress ass you did and youre working with a fair amount of weight, then start taking creatine....mulitiple studies have been conducted in college, high school, and professional sports that prove there is no correlation between kids who take creatine and the kids getting injured, but because of the devolpment of your muscles be sure to stretch more than enough before anytime lifting or playing your sport (good habit anyway)

most of you people have no idea what your talking about. creatine is made up of three amino acids :Methionine,Glycine and Arginine. amino acids are the same things that make up protein. creatine also does not make you stronger by just taking it, it gives your muscle more atp (energy) so you can train harder and longer, thats how you get bigger and stronger. creatine is produced naturally in the liver and when you eat meat your also taking in creatine so its not a drug like some of you idiots are saying. the only possible long term effect is that your body might stop producing creatine naturally. if you do decide to take creatine besure to take it with sugar or in gatorade or something like that because creatine needs a transport and if you use creatine without putting sugar with it, its not guna work so your just wasting your money.

and to rip the retard that said creatine isnt good for you but you should take cell tech instead is a moron because all cell tech is, is creatine with a ton of sugar mixed with it and some glutamine so you dont get sore.

 
I'm a bit hesitant on all this stuff, I've been thinking about it for a few months, but it's all so confusing, so many different brands, so many different purposes, and I'm at the point where I'm not seeing any changes. Should protein shakes or creatine only be taken on the days you work out? If you take more is it just excess weight?

ozee, you should definitely take protein on off days, not sure about creatine. but you need to have a consistently protein intake to gain any weight because it takes so long for your muscles to recover and they need it all the time.

yes, creatine is just garbage water weight, though you will bulk up much faster.... everywhere, just about every one I know on it gets a belly along with the biceps. you are far better off to just do it naturally or get some protine supliments.
