i took a media arts class last year, here are some of my projects from thoughout the year, some illustrator, sone photoshop, and some both
oh, and i have a pretty small scanner, and i didnt feel like spending a lot of time on it, so their pretty blurry
flowers: illustrator
design a business card, envelope, and letter head: illustrator
6 frame comic strip: illustrator
photo recolorization: photoshop
photo collage: photoshop
poster for something: photoshop and illustrator
design a cereal box: photoshop and illustrator
right now im working on a project where i have to draw something to represent the word "melonchaly", when i finish ill post it up

haha honestly man, i pretty much forgot how to do it.
i wanna say you open it, desaturate the picture, make a new later for what you wanna color on, chose whatever color you want to use and go to the layers pallette, and make sure the new layer is highlighted, then go to blending mode: color
if its a really light or really dark valuse (like pretty much white or black) then just get the color you want and change the opacity
