Crazy Idea I had Today

So i got to the top of the lift today, and skiied a little bit, then had my ski just pop off (old s912's are a bit loose) and I had a stroke of genius. We hold these things in our hands (most of us) that we really only use for balance. Why not make them more usefull?

Idea:

Design a new ski pole that has a locking/removable handle that has a hidden screwdriver/compartment for a swiss army knife in the handle.

That way, instant changes to DIN's if you need a quick fix like I did. No more stupid granola bars in your coat pockets getting mushed when you land on them, just put them in that nifty compartment in the handle of your other pole. Dont want to listen to your iPod nano or shuffle? Stick in in the compartment with the earbuds and dont worry about smashing it while skiing.

Good idea?
 
your pole would have to be two inches in diamater, kinda big...but have a tool built into the pole is a good idea
 
a screwdriver would definatly be a good idea, but your pole or handle would have to be huge to put a nano or granola bars in.
 
Forget the other stuff, just attack a screwdriver end to the bottom of the handle that slides into the rest of the pole. That way the handle is the driver, you just have to unscrew it from the rest of the pole.
 
yeah man just make a screw driver fit in that shit...and u know a couple of joints ur fuckin set...
 
Do you mean like at the end of the bottom of the pole be a screwdriver? sounds interesting but I really wouldn't use it much
 
what you should do is design a lock that fits in your poles so when you go into the lodge for something you can lock your skis and poles so they wont get stolen
 
there was this kid in boulder like 6 years ago that was making "bowl poles" that had a pipe built into the handle and the actual boiwl part just under the handle. goofy but functional. the multi-tool is a great idea.
 
make the handle of the pole the handle of the screw driver, put threads on the bottom of the handle so u can screw it into the pole, the screw driver head will sit inside of ur pole and u will use handle like ordinary pole when need it unscrew handle and use screw driver
 
wow thats a sick idea, like a cord that pulls out of the handle or something so u can lock ur shit up that would be so sick
 
with all that above equipment sounds like they would end up heavy & unbalanced

a small lock & tool thing though is still a good idea, I just patended it sorry!! lol
 
thatd be wayyy dope cause i have the reactors and they need to be tightened sometimes but only one problem the head of the screwdriver would probably get worn down
 
i had a similar idea as a racer a few yrs ago, but instead of in the handle, just have a super hardened tip with a philips head on one pole and the other style on the other, chip proof and shit, just as the tips of the pole.
 
ya ive seen hiking poles that have that.

686 makes a belt that has scredriver heads for buckles, i think that kinda shit is so cool cause somebody took the time to really think about their product.

this is actually a VERY good idea. granted, i wouldnt need them, but salomon look, and fks bindings all could possibly benifit from this. the grip should defintatly screw off, and in one, have a reversable screwdriver with philips and flathead bits, and a small cable lock in the other.
 
it wouldn't really matter much though, because as i understand it, the only thing that really matters is swing weight, and as long as the added weight was in the grips, it wouldn't make much of a difference.

a while ago someone posted poles that hold like hella liquid and you just pop the top and i guess the fun dont stop.
 
how about a better idea-make a pole designed for only grabbin skis in the park.....i dunno how u would without making your hands attached to easier and then of course risking your hands from gettin fucked when you fall and the poles wont release but hey some kid will think of it.
 
o what iff you just buil an mp3 player into the grip. not big and no screen. just play/pause and volume buttons and enough storage for like a day. but then youd need wireless headphones. nevermind.
 
Wireless headphones are availiable and some of them are not huge and clunky. They are probably kind of expensive though.

To guy who built this thread. Good idea. I wont steal it from you.
 
Speaking of coming off the chairlift, today i was just messing around near the end where it says tips up, and i kept putting them up and down. And they got caught where you unload, thank god for releaseable binding.
 
my friend is a rep for life-link and they make a pole where the handle screws off and it has an avalanche beacon in the handle, heyre pretty cool if yourinto going out of bounds a lot
