Craziest Air I ever had!!!

Windham mountain, NY. I was 10. Overshot the first jump in the big line. Let me set the stage some more. The park used to be below a steep and fast run, and it was easy to cut from lightspeed straight into the jump line. I did that. The jump was a 30 footer, and a Euro I was skiing with said I overshot by 13 meters. That's 39 feet. I think he was exaggerating, but you never know. It ended with me afterbanging so hard (accidentally) that my head hit the ice, and I stopped on the takeoff of the next jump. I'm glad I had a helmet.
I was riding on Dynastar 4X4 Juniors at the time... and I needed new skis after that. I hit so hard that I broke skis, at age 10. That's pretty gnarly.
Also, it put some serious freakout into my subconscious mind. I still don't hit the big jumps, anywhere. after that, I decided that park is not for me, and since then, I have devoted all my time skiing to big mountain. I now ski Alpine Meadows, CA, and I think it's time- time to get back into the park.

^ and you would be surprised how little snowblades absorb pressure when you land... went to flat and just exploded

I keep looking at that shot and it's just nuts. I wish it included the jump. It looks like an NFL kicker just punted your ass. Was there actually some place to land that had some steepness to it? This just looks like a parking lot.

well i just have the normal overshooting stories, landing on the flats and getting the wind knocked out of me, nothing major has happened though.

my good story, so i was skiing with a couple friends and we were going down a cat track and i was in front, all of a sudden they decided to dip down a side run without telling me, so i look back when i realize i can't hear them and figured they must of went down the run. so i jumped of the cat track and starting going through the trees angling myself back towards the other run. so its snowing really hard at the time making visibilty pretty bad, then all of a sudden i just start falling.

fell of a 40 ft cliff with a complete yard sale since it was flat landing. so i finally get up and start looking for my skis and as im looking i realize that on both sides of me there are rocks and tree stumps, somehow i fell right in the middle of them, so fucking lucky.

then i got my stuff together, found the other run, then found my friends waiting at the bottom.

dude what were u thinking? haha!thts insane!your lucky u didnt break any thing. even tho the hole in the tongue is enough.

we built a hip in the side of an 80 foot landing, I over-rotated a rodeo 7 to like almost 10 and landed almost flat, not the biggest air I have got but definitely the biggest difference in what I was expecting and what happened.

kirkwood, i was a noob barely hit the park before, speedchecked thought the jump looked good and then when i went up top to hit it got way more speed than i needed and landed on the last 20 feet of the tranny and was absolutely fine. rolled down the windows for a second but had so much air i could readjust and stomp

i ski at a small East Coast resort in Quebec (Bromont, for those who want to know) and this year they decided to build a 55 foot kicker which got us pretty stoked. the park rangers at my hill are okay but the day im going to tell you guys about they somehow forgot to rearrange the jump, leaving a depression kind of thing where all the snowboarders hit it (in the middle, where my right ski usually goes). so that day, not being in ''the zone'' i didnt really feel like hitting it. my friends start calling me pussy, even tho i hit at way before they did, so i just say fuck it and go for it. i go full speed up to the jump, not realizing how fast the snow was that night, and when i get to the lip, i dont feel myself leaning towards the right (because of the aforementionned depression) and pop like a motherfucker which sends me ¼lincoln to the right and so, in the air, im just like aaaaaaah fuck... and do my best to restabilize; this is when i realize that on top of being sideways, im goin waaaaaay too fucking fast and so i end up overshoot to about 70feet, landing in the flat on my side at a 90 degree angle (resulted from my attempt at restablizing). i get back up and ski to the next set of jumps, surprised at how little that hurt.

first time i tried a front flip was on a 30 foot stepdown and i was so focused on the flip that i completly forgot to speed check. i made it through 3/4 of the flip then opened up (big mistake) i spent the last 30 feet of my overshoot looking straight up at the blue sky. landed flat on my back after 65 feet. lucky for me it was in about 6 inches of spring slush.

i was at loon in march and it was one of the last days i was going to be skiing for the winter so i finally decided that it was time to go for the frontflip that i had been thinking about trying for the past year. so i come into the first jump in thier park wich is about 15 maybe less. and i straightlined into the jump which i had been speedchecking and overshooting to the flat all day as it is. so im straightlining and then i throw the front and dint tuck as much as i shoul've. the last thing i remember seeing before impact was looking at all my friends watching me, then i smacked my tails at 3/4 front and blacked out for a second. by the time i was awake enough to realize that my leg was broken i looked behind me and realized that the end of the landing was about 20 feet behind me and i was about halfway between the landing of the first jump and the lip of the second jump.

we didnt have a 100 footer at whistler. this year or last year or the year before. it was 75 at the most. and if you hit it 170 feet. you wouldnt have legs

One time I was younger at big sky skiing the park alone and I decided to go for the last jump I had no clue how much speed was needed I got a odd pop of the lip and found myself drifting left in the air. Thats all I remember to the point of waking up in a ambulance than a hospital then a hotel! Another time I was hitting the 30 footer at my home hill and overshot to the landing smashing my face on my knee. My last story I was at the Salomon Jib Academy at Spirit Mountain I was warming on the small line popped to early on the lip when doing a 3 caught my tails in the lip and ended up doing some sort of flatspin.

i was shredding down a normal powder line we knew, instead of taking a sharp left at a tree for a 10-15ft nice drop with a nice landing, i forgot and kept bombing straight only to fly off a 35-40ft drop missing a pile of rocks by a couple feet and breaking the back of my ski (it hit a rock im guessing) which i didnt find out about until hours later when we were no longer in powder

back in the day like 5 years ago approximatley i went to blu mountain for the first time and the have fat jumps and we spent the whole night overshooting landings on 40-60 foot jumps like land and crumple but we were just always ok except for some cereal shin bang i like how you said that watch the landing disapear beneath you haha awful awful feeling

Back in the day, approximately five years ago, I went to Blue Mountain for the first time. They have fat jumps, and we spent the whole night overshooting landings on forty to sixty foot jumps. We would land and crumple, but we were always ok, except for some serial shin bang. I like how you said that watching the landing disappear from beneath you is an awful, awful feeling.

You're welcome.

at my mountain at earlyish season it was about 40-50i was landing just abouve sweet spot and i decided to do another speed evaluation so i wanted to go bigger
i came in with what it seemed like a little more speed i poped my 3 nicley got the mute in it and then as soon as i let go of my grab at 270 i was hovering over the flat i came down so hard that i started pukeing out my lunch my inside shooke and i was out for the rest of the afternoon
jump was fun if u took speed nicley but had a terribly steeeeepp landing

i over shot a jump like that once. i just washed out and slid belly first down the rest of the terrain park talking to people as i slid by....luckily i didnt lose a ski cuz it would have been such a long hike

one time i tried to poach a jump during a 'private park shoot' at bachelor. long story short i ended up fucking myself and becoming a jackass on newschoolers.

not as epic as yours but two years ago or one im not sure how we count it we had like a 30 foot to knuckle step up and i started at the top of the park like 150 feet away and sat tuck into, there were two jumps before it, the second jumps landing and popped around to do some switch trick and i started spinning wayyyyy to early and caught my leading ski and landed all my wieght on my sholder on flat ice after the landing and dislocated it

oh my. landed about 5ft from completely flat. I like the almost screamin move 3/4 of the way through the air.

tried a thirty at my home mountain, my friend said that i had to just straight line it from the beginning because he thought i would chicken out, i didn't. i overshot by a little but got pretty far off axis and smashed into the ground on my back, it felt like a just fell straight out of the air like a rock from 15ft in the air. it hurt
