christ, it really wasn't that good. there were some decent acting jobs, but for the most part as stated in the nytimes review it was just ridiculously "serendipitious"...an overwhelming amount of interrelated less then okay racial conflict, followed up by a last second happy ending. it was entertaining, and i did legitimately care about the characters and the plot, but for the most part it had really good intentions but ultimately a lot of shortcomings...to me it just sort of stated a problem and then didn't give any worthwhile insight into the problem. i find it kind of funny that its a city that has been chosen to represent existing racial tensions. while seattle might not be quite the same, in terms of the existing racial populations, and more importantly their segregation, growing up in a city has led me to find that it is the people not living in urban communities that are most typically racist. although paradoxical (in that sense) i suppose this might provide as a good piece of instruction for the multitudes of uneducated unexperienced racists that are not from the cities...yes that is a subjective point of view.
