Crap rail, or is it my skis?

I was doing a flat rail the other day.. the best way i can compare this is imagine if your sliding through water, and then suddenly something thicker.

I'd slide fine then at some points my skis seemed as if they hit like a goo on honey on the rail and i'd drastically slow down, almost falling forward. This happened multiple times, i asked a couple snowboarders the next day and everyone said the rail was fine, but then again i doubt they notice much with 5ft of contact

You edges are probably new/sharp? Otherwise the rail is just sticky, not too hard to figure out which one it is.

If I had to guess my edges are crap. I got the skis about midway last year, no tuneup since then. Edges aren't dull but I definetly wouldn't say they're sharp. I'm just wondering if there's any chance due to the bottom of my skis from previous rails. They're aren't any big scrapes, but maybe a couple that are around 1mm +/- .25 deep or so so would that possibly effect it?

because those are the only twio kinds of rails...they really should srtart putting rails on mountains now-a-days, i think theyd get a good amount of traffic

its probably the rail, but theres a really easy way to figure this out. hit another rail and see if its the same problem.

^huh? and its probably the rail i have that problem with this one rail at snow valley i have to like bomb down the hill just to slide the whole thing then i go to other places and the rails slide like crazy and im usually not ready for it and end up looking stupid, but its a good idea to dull your edges if youre worried about it
