so last night i dropped my iphone at a party and the whole screen is cracked pretty bad. the whole thing still works well as far as i can tell at the moment but i'd like to get it fixed .... its probably not under warranty anymore so would be the best thing to do ?

mad karma for some good suggestion/advice/past experiences with this

If you turn it on and can still touch very part of the screen fine then all that needs to be replaced is the glass screen. They can be found on ebay but aren't that cheap, If you're comfortable taking the phone apart yourself...

this happened to me too, but it didnt crack on any part that you touch, its all on the bottom near the button, so i didnt do anything about it. apparently you can go in and get them to replace the glass on them for pretty cheap though.

Apply a thin layer of epoxy resin with a razorblade, then hit it with a heat gun until all of the cracks disappear, then let it sit WITHOUT TOUCHING IT for 2 days.

wrong. this happened to my itouch and my whole screen is busted. happened in the winter and i asked them how much it was to fix it and they told me you could do it yourself for 50 if you know how to take it apart and shit or they could do it for 150 because the warrenty doesnt cover cracked screens. i just kept mine. its still cracked but it works fine. i just need to be a bit more careful with it

so i just got off the phone with them and its 199$ to fix it, but if somehow i talk to at&t if my contract is up i can possibly get an 16g 3g for that price or the same one new for 99$

1) tough it out, if its still usable, no need to fix (unless you got cash)2) be a douch, find another persons iphone, switch the sim, never talk to them again3) go get it fixed from apple

Try going to an authorized retailer with a service repair center. If you are in CO or UT there is a great dealer. PM me if you live there. They will fix it for about $100.

Getting a new one seems to be a good choice. It seems that you have had the phone for a bit, considering the contract is up for renewal. If you can pay for 3g service, it's a no-brainer.

I say just be careful, by a case for it. Protect the screen. Or at the very least if you are getting a new one. Take greater steps to protect it and put a small lining over the screen or get a case for it.
