amen. There are too many suits in the sport at the moment in big ass companys like salamon. Thats why a company like 4frnt or ninthwood are always going to be better, a company run by skiers for skiers. Like they have personal loyality to athletes in a way that money minded salamon don't have. Yeah salamon did not have to keep Cr on but they should have.

I mean salamon are a dope company and all and the foil is sweet but they are looking like they are the past. Armada and smaller companys are the future i think.

And recon that that is so good. I mean snowboarding is dominated by burton and i my view that sucks. I like the fact that it looks like skiing is splintering into all these small companies and that one single company does not dominate.

Salamon, your on the way down, Ninthwood your climbing up.

Go Small(er) ski companys you rule.

p.s. it is nice to see ninthwood posting this kind of stuff cause you have been taking a bit of a battering resently here at school. I know you care let the rest of newschoolers know too
 
If anything, companies like ninthward and 4frnt are MORE "money minded" because they have less money. Why do you think ninthward is bitching about their returns on advertising, threatening law suits, and reneging on their financial obligations to filmers/websites? Why do you think 4frnt couldn't pay for Sammy to film and travel, or for Zicat to make the Level 1 shoots last year. When you don't have as much money, you have to make tough choices (4frnt) or cut corners (ninthward).
 
that's nonsense.. solomon is a huge corporation with alot more going on and alot less time to think of the individual personalities and issues that come with each rider, therefore its easier for them to simply let someone go where as companies like ninthward and 4frnt don't have as much bs to deal with so they can take the time to cater to a rider's personal needs. They may have some financial difficulties being a new smaller company but that doesn't mean they don't care about their athletes.
 
no they were....they were tailored to each skier. The vinnys 169 were made for vinny......made to ride in Sauveur. And CR did no do shit for the 1080.....would you have new schooling if it was not for JP,JF...Mike D, Shane. Dude take off your throwback jersy, turn off the rap, and do your fucking research.

You DON'T know SHIT about the skiing industry, sports contracts in general, and you ESPECIALLY don't know a fucking THING about what happened between CR and Salomon. Contracts expire. People get resigned if both parties consent. You don't know who dropped who, why, where, how, or even IF anyone was dropped! So why are you opening your mouth?

Fuck YOU and your uninformed attitude. Because you seem ready to crucify some people down at Salomon and you don't know your shit from your oatmeal when it comes to the situation.
 
I spent a bit of time w/ CR after his Icer Air win in San Fran last fall. I spent even more time during a phone interview for a story none of you will ever see. CR was most adamant about changing the image of professional skiers from gangsters to something kids can look up to. He also mentioned being there for Kye and trying to provide a more positive example for him and other youngsters. He's over the gantster image. More should be said about that and his courage to overcome adversity over this last year. Hopefully you get the opportunity to meet him and see for yourself. If the story was printed you'd never think that way about him.

Hey as I said CR was my fav. pro skier back a few years but I got all that image of him being a wannabe ganster from this thred,and the last few years of ski movies expecally pop yer bottles, which had some good skiing by him but whole break dancer thing with bandans hanging from his pants relly made me think much less of him. I also hope he didnt get droped by soloman cause there my fav. ski company and he is one of my fav. skiers. thanks for setting me strait about CR trying to be ganster.

Salomon is a sportswear company that was incorporated by Adidas in 1997, and has since been supporting not just the skiing industry, but the skating, snowboarding, and inlining industries as well.

I'd like to hear of all the athletes they have "fucked over" because I'm pretty sure that they have discovered, sponsored, and pretty much MADE half the talent in the industry right now, including JP, Dumont, Carlson, CR, Olenick, and a million others.

Do I ski Salomons? No, I ski Ninthwards. But between Rossi, Salomon, and K2 we can divide the credit for making twin-tipped freestyle skis readily available to everyone.

So, before you start using homoerotic-middleschool-generally-over-the-top insults to buttress your idiotic argument, you need to take a step back, realize that you are being a trendwhore moron, and maybe cool down, because the only reason I can think of you posting such nonsensical bullshit is that maybe your mom made you clean your room or do your math homework or something.
 
Hi Everyone. Hopefully this is the last posting on this thread. I hate to chime in and ruin most of the fun that many of you are having with this thread, but here is the deal:

1. Salomon did not drop CR Johnson. CR Johnson's contract ended with the 05/06 contract year. I manage the contracts at Salomon, I know this.

2. Salomon is actively trying to resign CR. His agent has the contract and we are moving forward.

3. The new contract that Salomon has issued CR is actually better for him than if he would have had time to sign on again with us before he got hurt last year.

I know its hard to believe with us being such a "big scary corporation" but lots of us here work many many hours a week to support athletes of all ages, events, camps, new product development and the overall advancement of our segment of the sport. I am not saying we are perfect, but we are trying as best we can.

im w/ you....i think he will end up going to armada....he already has the film company w/ tanner so why not sign w/ tanners ski company as well

i remember him sayin he don´t want to ride 4armada because they are totally fixed to tanner and so he won´t be the team-leader or sth like that...

so if he drops salomon i think he would switch to 4frnt or another small company..(except ninthward) (=
