I don't know where people are getting the 50% chance of dying statistic. I just spoke with the head of ski patrol who is a good friend of his father's (his father was Squaw Ski Patrol) and he said that he is in a coma but he is expected to make it, without permanant damage.
 
that really really sucks, i hope he isnt messed up for a long time, that would suck if he couldnt ski for a long time. and it would suck to be kye right now id feel really bad, but it sounds like it was both of their fault, i know i wait for my friends or anyone else to go before i get anything i lost. and if i didnt see him ride away i would atleast go off to the side or something.

Yes I feel much cooler, actually almost as cool as the Fonzie. But seriously, I'm not going to pray for someone that I think that doesn't need it. This is like saying you're praying for a carless driver as well as the person the driver hit and who is now in crit. condition. I just don't see why I should because Kye will recover mentally from this but C.R. may never. At least Kye can have a garuntee to still live on after this. Oh and um... Work on the english a little bit there as well.
 
if you rad the article thats been posted it sounds like he is in a induced coma which is a lot better then actaully being put in a coma by the accident. nevertheless speedy recovery CR
 
regardless if you dont like the person you should still have them in your prayers, kye is probably going through alot, and neither CR or Kye deserves this.
 
thats so fucked up i really hope he recovers. He seems like a real chill guy and he kills it too right from the beginning. Kye deserves to be punched in the face fucking cunt who just launches off a cornice without checking?

i am really glad that is appears CR is going to be fine. i hope his recovery is speedy.

its lucky kye hit him and not the other way around... that little dude has to weigh all of 100 pounds on a good day.
 
i just wanna say, cr in ski movie three is what makes me obsessed with skiing, and hes the man for it, but this is not about me, so get well cr, were all with you
 
to be honest, it made me laugh. it was kinda starwarish and it put all kinds of skiing with lightsaber pictures in my head.
 
INJURY: C.R. Johnson Hospitalized with Head Injury

According to reports from his sponsors, C.R. Johnson is currently in University of Utah Hospital with severe head trauma. C.R. was filming in the Brighton backcountry when the accident happened. He had jumped a cliff and was collecting some lost gear when Kye Petersen launched the same air and collided with him, sources say. According to people close to the scene, as of Friday December 9, C.R. was in intensive care and sedated to aid his recovery.
 
from what i heard it sounds like it was both their fault, when you fall on something like that you should get out of the way as quick as possible, and wait to get your gear, atleast thats what i do, and kye should have atleast waited longer, or gone off a different area. they both made a mistake any one of us would have made. but i think cr. needs alot more help than kye does, it sounds like he is really messed up.
 
You don't hit any feature without knowing what is in your landing.

You just dont.

It is a mistake people make, but such a simple one to avoid.

Saying CR made a mistake is pretty disrespectful to be honest.
 
He's right its TOTALLY crs fault for.... ya know crashing his trick.

It's a dangerous sport and I'm suprised pros don't get hurt more often than they do, but everytime it happens it hits home, at least for me.

I'm gonna bake him some cookies and bring them up to the hospital, C.r's the man, he'll pull through.
 
im not trying to be disrespectful, but when im skiing with friends and i fall on something and they cant see me i just get out of the way as quick as i can or yell at them to stop, cause you cant always expect people to wait till they know your out of the way. but yeah kye did make the bigger mistake.

and does anyone know how he hit him, did he hit him with his skis? or just kinda fall on him? cause i would think he would need to be hit pretty hard for him to get that messed up.
 
How do you know that he was just "hanging out" in the landing, you don't know what happened, nobody really does right now so stop speculating that it was partially his fault
 
i understand the need to get out of the way...

but like I said. dont hit something unless you know your landing. that simple.

as far as the impact...everything to this point is just speculation and hearsay.

from the sound of it...he got hit pretty hard. Even though kye is tiny....you gain a lot of speed when your falling.

dude it said in the powder article that he was collecting his gear, im guessing thats pretty accurate, and i said before kye did make a bigger mistake, but nobody is 100% at fault. they had some shitty luck.
