Everyone be on the lookout, I wanna see the new salomon pro model skis for Candide and CR. They have been talking about it all over the place, but where are they. Just a thought, but I wonder what they'll be skiing on at the x-games.

 
The X-games is where everyone shows off their new stuff, except for k2, oh and dynastar. If salomon has any new skis coming out, i bet they will be at the x-games.

 
they'll probably be at the vegas show as well.

The Vegas show hasnt started yet. Buying Group show starts Friday, followed by SIA after that. Like Sunday or Monday...

 
both candide and cr skied on modified 1080s, or 'pro models' if that's what you want to call them, last x games/season. they have a wood core, same topsheet, and the bases are black with the yellow salomon logo on the base tip. man, you know foam sucks when your pros switch back to wood...

^dude, they weren't wood, the only difference was the race base, salomon does not make a wood core ski at all, not even there high end top of the line team only race skis are wood, so why would the make 2 pairs of wood skis for cr and candide when they have proven technology with a foam core, taht' doens't make sense, believe me they weren't wood

the 1080 will be unchanged for next year except for the graphic, same with the pocket rocket. but, there will be a ''S-Lab 1080' which im guessing will be what candide and cr ride. Burning hot gets droped out of the line and the swallow tail gets into the lineup a little more officialy. Not that it will intrest many of you, but there also will be 2 new freeride and carving models out that look pretty rippen.

^^Actually I talked to one of salomons main reps, and he said that the pro models (pipe dragons) have a narrower waist, a wood core, more of a turned up tail, and the s-lab race base. The new pro models that will be sold to the public are supposedly the same ski as the current 1080's but they will have differnt topsheets. The reason as to why the pipe dragons are not being sold right know is because they would be $900 twin tips which not very many people would buy them.

To be more clear: The 'pro models' coming out having nothing to do with the skis that CR and Candide have been owning on since last year.

The new 'pro models' are just 1080's with different topsheets.

 
why call them pro-models if the pros aren't using 'em? deceptive marketing, me thinks.

they're the same skis as this years but with differnt topsheets, so they have partially solved 1 of 2 problems. 1st, now the skis look a little better (or at least differnt), 2nd they still failed to make a good ski that is being sold to they public. Fuckin' A!

The middle one looks Island style... sort of, you can't tell by just the top half. But holy hell.. the only new skis I really like are in Volkl's lineup. Usually I hate their stuff too.

^Yeah the ones on the left have the tip shape of this years 1080. The one on the right definately looks like the PR.

now that we have all seen what they look like the real question to answer is has salomon wised up and switched back to wood core? doesnt look like it to me, those PR's look exactly the same (construction wise)

Salomon figured that by using all foam cores, they would be getting two birds with one stone.
