Cowboy up comp at Stevens

Is anyone from here planning on competing in the Cowboy Up event at Stevens Pass at the end of this month?

I really want to enter this year after watching last year but $145 per person seems kind of steep. I think I could do pretty good and it just seems like it would be a lot of fun.

I was looking at who all signed up last night... And noticed that some kid from New York, NY signed up for the comp. WTF!? hahahaha

i was riding up on the chair with this dude that said he is entering and said you can make huge bank if you win wether becoming sponsored or etc

It does cost a little more than your local rail jam as this is a major event and part of a US tour. Ultimately the goal would be to get sponsors to pay athletes entry fees. Hopefully area businesses like Evo, Sturtevants, REI, Monkey Rides, Alpine Hut, etc are supporting the future of freeskiing by sponsoring some of the WA skiers so they can compete with the UT and BC Canada skiers.

What is Annie's Bench? I thought this was a grom comp down cowboy. I like hearing what other people call spots on the mountain though.

That's the zone I was referencing. They will look at Cowboy for the final, but rumor is that there isnt enough snow on it that's why I named the other options they are looking at.

I don't really like the format.

I think it would be better if it was just your best run counted. as apposed to the combined score.

I feel the combined score keeps people back, they are more likely to keep to easier lines so they don't fall, instead of trying for bigger lines.

and I was very impressed with how big those kids were going.

Dude, good to see you up there! That was some amazing shit, I cant believe the shit people threw down in such snow.

I gotta say I was impressed. About 2-3 of the skiers blew my mind and about 5-8 more were pretty darn good too. The future is bright man.

Good to see you as well. Spring conditions and blue birds, lets get a jump session together.
