Could someone become pro just being a sick jibber and nothing else?

tj schiller is the best big air skier in the industry, and is a better jibber than pretty much anyone on this site, and isnt known for it all, so no, prolly not.

Yes it is very possible. There are so many rail comps in the US allready, and some crazy shit that gets set up for videos, so yes its extremely possible.

every pro has there strong and weak spots but i dont think u can be a pro if you can only do rails and then cant even straight air a 30 foot booter

well in skimati you can see that he knows how to jump... he stomps a really nice switch 7, switch rodeo etc... I think before someone gets specialised in one category, he practises everywhere before. so yes you can be a pro just for beeing a sick jibber, like frank ray, but you still should be able to hit jumps too.

In the long run, it's going to be up to the jibbers. If they're there in the parks, the park stays open... The comps and money will come with it. That's just the way it is.

That's kind of how it is right now. Most pros these days can't ski outside the park to save their lives. I remember back in the day when all the park guys were ex mogul skiers and kicked ass at everything they did, but there's very few people like that anymore.

Jon ollson, though a really good jibber, is most known for his jumping. in his segments he hardly has any rails.

are we forgetting the NS favorite... T.HEED???? If there's a case for someone blowing up just based off of rails and deserving it I think he takes the cake. His Wicked segment had one 7 in it and the rest was park rails.. and it's still the best rail shit I can show non-skiers.

well I was wondering the same thing. I can do 7's and 5's and all that but on rails I just feel so confident. Like pretzels and shiest. I think if you can slay just about any park rail and slay urbans your set. you should be able to do a fair amount of jump tricks but you don't have to be able to win comps with jumps.

jumps are the essential part to contests and the rails give you more points and can determine the winner but if you have shitty jumps you have no chance unless ur like Ghandiclause

but park jumps definately don't determine a good segment. It depends on whether or not the pro skier gets his skrilla more on contests or seggy's.

except t-heed isnt exactly "blowing up" i mean what was the last thing you heard about him?.... other people that were in wicked like colby and balsen are skiing with level 1 and shit and they had good diversity in their parts. maybe an indication and maybe not

The best pros come from some sort of technical backround, like racing, moguls, or a freestyle team. Personally, I would think it would be nice if true pros can rip anywhere, but based on where the coverage is right now, if someone who really destroyed rails and had the right connections came along, they could become sponsored.
