Could really use advice on picking new skis. Same ones since 2013

Hey everyone, I hope it's the right place to ask.

I am hoping to find a new set that will suit me, but I have an attachment problem.

In 2013 I bought a pair of 189 120 k2 pettitors. Had a pair of jesters mounted dead center on them and fell in love. I ended up buying 2 spare pairs. I'm on the last one now, and kinda lost on what to switch to, once I kill them off. I get out to the mountains out west in the US at least twice a year, but live by atlanta these days, so I don't get to demo skis much.

If this helps with advice. I'm 6.3, 215, workout often and stay in shape. I love charging on these things, carving hard, and bombing the mountains. Love jumps and riding switch, but don't jump backwards. I'm 38 and healing up takes a bit longer. I don't do rails either, but love to venture in the park and hit doubles. I hope you get the idea.

I took these things to Jackson hole, alta and woods, like mount Bohemia in UP. They are not perfect, don't get me wrong. But they just feel reliable and solid as hell... probably because they weight a ton, they are not very poppy.

If at all possible, I'd love to find something that is a bit more poppy, so it would take a bit less effort to lift off on small things, other than jumps. But that is also confident at high speeds, and that you can ride switch on. These have worked for me in all conditions, and since I fly out everywhere I go, I usually bring one pair.

Sorry about the long post. I've demoed soul 7 a couple of years back, but they were too chattery at speed. Picked up a pair of Icelantic pioneers 109 the last one. And I just felt like they were easier to wash out on...

I've been reading up, and considering maybe trying bent chettlers 120, or solomon qst blanks. But I'd hate to buy another pair of skis that feels disappointing next to these 2 giant planks strapped to my feet.

Thank you for reading so far. I'd appreciate any help.

Moment wildcat/bibby sound perfecto.

They are a bit stiff, but the pop is still there, it just takes a bit of effort to engage it. Wider jeffereys too could be fun.

but for speed, dropping shit, and skiing sketchier stuff, I haven’t found a more confidence inducing ski than the bibbys

Man, haven't even thought of them. But have been reading up on them for the last 10 minutes. So wildcat is the rehash of Bibby's. Thank you, I think I will actually go with those. Love what I'm seeing so far!!! 2 last questions, if you don't mind. 190 long and 116 underfoot. Or would you recommend more narrow ones? And should I get those mounted dead center, or 1, maybe 2 back?

Yes, this is the right place

Didn’t read any of those paragraphs but the Vishnu wet is definitely the ski for you

Check out the Atomic BentChetler series. Great, very popular skis these days. All mountain rippers that can be big, wide, or thinner and shorter. Great mix of a ski.

Id go wildcats. Don’t get Jeffrey’s. I just got a pair and they do not hold up well at high speeds/choppy conditions.

Take your skis to a shop to get your tune looked at. If you're having issues with Jeffreys at speed you probably have a tuning issue.

That’s how I felt like first few runs but got used to them quick. Easily the jeffereys are my favorite, but wildcat sounds better for OP

I agree! throw anything at those chelters and they just keep ripping! #Chetlergang

I was already considering 120 bent chettlers. I do appreciate everyone taking the time to answer! I think I'll look for the best deal between those and wildcats and go with one of those. Seems like it's hard to go wrong with either. Super excited for a new set!

Thanks again everyone!!!

Was leaning towards wildcats, but stumbled on an insane deal for a pair of brand new 2019 120 bent chettlers. Just ordered those!!! Huge thanks! You guys are all awesome for taking the time with my post.

Definitely can endorse the Moment Wildcat and ON3P Jeffry recommendations. If you're looking for insane durability and don't care too much about having a heavy ski, I'd go with the ON3P's. I've never experienced any of the chatter issues previously mentioned in this thread with them. Wildcats are right in line for someone with your size and skiing too. I'd personally steer clear of the Bentchetlers as they are so light you'll probably end up overpowering them - awesome skis but I'm guessing the Moments and ON3Ps will be better fits for you.

The Bent Chetler 120s are super light, but they're not a very stiff ski and get very shakey at high speeds. I'd have a look at the volkl revolt 121s. They're 10/10 for hard charging without being too stiff, and they're still super poppy and playful, make you wanna straight line everything too haha

I got myself a pair in the 19/20 season and I haven't looked back. Since then, I've tried my mates soul 7s and Armada JJ 116s and I was very glad I went for the revolt 121s. So much better at high speeds, the difference was night and day.

I’m def not an expert on ski tech but my skis flapping at high speeds doesn’t sound like a tune issue. They are super fun in fresh/soft snow but I do not trust these skis in less than ideal snow and big shit unless it’s fresh. I’ve put about 3-4 days on them so I’m still not super familiar with them.

I’ll have a shop check out the tune. I just got really used to my wildcats and CT 1.0s, so it could just be me being used to stiff skis.

Where do u ski? I took mine out on a cold day a few days after a storm in CO and these things felt so sketchy on small cliffs and drops. The tips feel like they’re trying to slap me in the face.

the skis are super fun but I’m a bit disappointed with how much people talked up the stiffness of ON3P skis. I’m debating selling these and getting something from them that’s a bit stiffer.

Once again, thank you! I ended up picking up 190cm wildcats and a pair of 192 120 bent chetlers. Going to get the bindings on the moment. Take them out in a month, and if I love them, sell the atomic's. Seriously appreciate all the advice. Can't wait to get on those!
