well fuck, why not just change it to that. i mean the fortune 500 companies run America. Give a nice contribution to the campaign fund, get what you want, get your corporate welfare, get laws past, get whatever you want. Think about it guys, its true, how come nike never gets in trouble for contracting slaves to do their work? and it is true, dont let those nike factories in the states fool you, most of nike's products or made by contracters outside of teh company (ie super cheap children working in harsh environments long ours for little pay) but of course.. there a big ass company, they know the low people in high places, they paid there dues to the president for his campaign, there in the clear right? Why does gm get away with closing plants and moving them to mexico where the workers are cheap? because there in cahoots with the big men. They can always play that card, its business, business is to make profit, and help the share holders, but profit my ass, its not like your not pulling in shit loads a yeare already... look at the facts, you as the people dont do shit in this country, unless you have a shit load of money, you'll never get your way...

wanna know why they don't get in trouble? cause there's no fucking rule sayig you can't move your company to another country. that's fuckign why. Big companies suck, I totally agree. They don't get away with shit becuase our gov. is curropt of paid off, taht is fucking ignorant as hell to say. but ya... they can move out of the country, and go to another country where labor is cheaper. how is that illegal or punishable by law? it's not, it's like me moving to canda when i'm 18 so I can drink there. I agree, moving for cheap labor is not a good thing, btu the companies are not payig off the gov. you're so anti american you jsut want more ways to try to prove we're bad.

it's the big companys that are paving new ground into their fields. Because they are the only ones with the money. And alot of those companys give back to communities. A lot of people rely on them for jobs and it took them a long time with a lot of hard work and effort to get that big. Don't get all pissy on them just because you know you'll never create something so great. Plus I like to buy stuff and they make it.

Nike doesn't give shit back to our communities, they make their shoes in China and sell them here instead of giving jobs to america. Yeah but Blindblinds thats bullshit about companys in cahoots with big people or paying off hte government, otherwise I agree with you. I didn't see Disney on that flag though? Unless I missed the symbol, but Disney owns everything, they even own ESPN, ABC, a ton of shit. So does Aol time-warner, damn them.

Yes, big corporations do have their share of problems (childlabor, corruption), but can you imagine the world today without the IBMs, Philip Morrises, GEs? We definatly would not be as far along as we are today if every business stayed small. They wouldn't have the capital to create the technologies we have today. For all the bad the these big corporations bring us, you must admit they have done us a lot of good. And to say we would be better off without them is impossible to say, but personally there are a few things that come to mind when talking about large companies (Cheap goods, Jobs, New Technologies/Medicine).

Well, heres the thing, im not anti american, i just dont rant about things i like, and since america is the most powerful, and richest country in the world (housing huge militaries, anc corporations) thats why, you just have stuff i dont like, canada has it too... i dont like your president, or multi national corporations. Im fine with americans, american products, anything american, but theres certain things i disagree with, in general. Above i never said that i dont like america, just i dont like the big companies getting welfare because they can pay the govenrment money for there campaign n such. it happens everywhere.

these companies are a huge part of american economy, if they were to dissapear, we would be a third world country. Thats what seperates america from the other shitty countries. besides canada and france and cool people liek that

fair enough... but I dissagre with the slander against all multinational companies.. I have a cousin who I work with a lot (yard work and such) who is part of a multinational corp that supplies the gov with some stuff. The compnay is farily small tho, and I have spent a lot of time with him at the company. The company in no way exploits child labor or anything type of slavery etc. it is a great company, and there are lots of them like it. GRANTED, Gm and other fuck up companies like that are horrible and if they were people I would personally shoot then.

Look you can say allll you want about capitalism being bad and such. Hell! Capitalism does have its flaws. You people say so much about this. But you never, ever mention what you're alternative is. Would you like communism better? Would you like to be opressed under a leader such as Fidel Castro, or Joseph Stalin. You guys need to understand, that we live in the best conditions in the world. Would like to live in imppoverish Bolivia growing illegal drugs. Would you like to live in a mud hut and be out of your job and not have a computer to complain on.

You should be happy that you can complain. In a lot of countries you could be sent to jail.

Moving a company's factory to...per say..china isn't a bad thing. The people in the country where the factory has been moved to do not have to work there...noone is forcing them to take the job. Would it be better if they didn't take the jobs and didn't make any money and starved instead.

You just don't produce any alternatives....there is no ' all happy world ' without any brand names or big companies or where anyone gets hurt...IT DOESN'T EXIST!!Your alternative is poverty....want that?

Capitalism is working pretty well. If you want find me a better alternative.

Haha, we had that flag up at the front of our exam room for Communications 130 @ Simon Fraser University, for 'inspiration'. 500 kids spent 3 hours writing 2 essays while staring at that flag...what a fucking pathetic thing to put up in a university exam room. Though the flag raises some interesting questions, it's still one sad joke, there's so many better ways to illustrate the problems with North American culture. Fuck it.

Half of it is bullshit that the editors and writers make up when they're getting drunk and/or high. I know too many people who've volunteered their time for adbusters, only to come to that conclusion through their experiences. Much like that flag, adbusters is mostly bullshit. And since when is buying an $8-10 magazine the best way to go 'counterculture' or 'fuck the man'...get a life, get an education, then start trying to change things.

see, some of adbuster's stuff is pretty cool. they do get some really good info, but its obvious sometimes that they are streching the truth and trying to sell it for all its worth. kinda like the tabloids
