anyone ever waxed with a cork? how do you do it? just rub the cork on the base until it gets hot and then rub on the wax? because I was rubbing my skis for a long time and they werent even warm.

HAHA thats not what the cork is for. The cork is after you have waxd and scraped. I do it after a brushing too but some people prefer before. The cork is to smooth out the wax on the base. A very end of the wax proccess thing.

HAHA! yah, keep rubbing til it gets hot. Come tell me how it woprked in a few years! HAHA! Jokes brah! but yah, Sherlock here has the idea.

haha yeah my friend got an iron for xmas and he's totally obsessed w/ waxing his skis now...jesus christ, hes gonna have a bigger layer of wax than his base...haha not really...but he's all like dude this wax is totally nectar, Im gonna rip it up cause of it

Why do you guys say, 'I have to take a shit' when you just leave it there?' JF learning english

I've never done my own waxing but I had to wax so much last season, like wax & sharpen once a week and before my GS races because I was skiing so much. I had to get it done at my hill and it adds up after some time. Anyway, my sister and one of my good friends are good Xcountry skiers and have irons, can I use that iron for my waxing? It would make sense if I could, its just heat. Not some sort of 'special' heat... And what type of wax do you guys suggest?

yeah you can use their irons, you could even use your mom's iron if you wanted to, but you could clog the holes, so put tin foil over it. it really doesnt matter what kind of iron you use, jsut as long as it's at a setting that isnt TOO hot.

HAHA! Dude! i am sooooo using nectar now. HAHA! Filthy! But yah, we got an old ion. No holes, no setting adjustments. Works like a beaut tho. I just plug and unplug it to adjust the heat.

When I wax I melt the shit, scrape, brush, scrape, brush but no matter how much I do it it doesnt seem smooth or thin enough? How thin/smooth does the coating have to be? I stopped waxing myslef cuz I thought I was doin a bad job.

To the person with the wax question, you need ski wax, you can get it at sports stores or ski shops, swix is a common wax that is sold there, there is also different waxes for different temperatures, it says on the package. I read somewhere that using other wax isnt good, forgot why but I think it was in some waxing manual.

are you talking about how much wax do you think is enough? you only need a thin layer.. like scrape it with ur fingernail and a little shaving should come off, then its enough. waxing them with an iron is the best for your skis too..dont do it when they are cold though thats a bad idea. and if ur bases start to show white thats bad you should get them hot waxed..ironed i mean

It is unfortunate when everything seems to be going really good and the girl uses a word like 'dont', or 'stop'. If she learned to use these two words in unison, everyone would be much happier.

Yeah I wax with an iron, but I keep scraping and it seems like I cant scrape enough off, theres always a thick layer still on the ski after I scrape/brush.

If base turn white, need to remove before you wax. White stuff decrease wax absorption and slows you down . You can get rid of the white stuff by sanding, scraping, or a stone grind. And whole thing about corks, first you rub on the wax want to use, then rub in with the cork. You wouldn’t feel your ski get hot, it does not build up that much heat. Use a natural cork for hydrocarbon wax and a synthetic cork for fluorocarbon wax. I think that’s how it goes. I hope that help’s out.
