Cork 990 to rail....

Antoine diet ou jean basset (french skier) would have pulled out a cork 990 to rail , yesterday in la clusaz... it has been posted on newschoolers today and people are already talking a lot... video soon
 
cork 990 is sooo blind. like, 810 is just a 7, then open up and spot it. 990 is a totally new thing. i'm pumped.
 
is this what people want? they dont want to see cool new grinds that are steez and creative but theyd rather see a huck to rail? its impressive to see 990 and im not saying for people not to do it but im posing a question. do people think its cooler to huck onto a rail than to do weird grinds? its kinda like is it cooler to do sw 7s and stuff with cool grabs or hucked 1440s?
 
I think it partly has to do with people not wanting skiing to become rollerblading, you've heard it on here many times. People completely hate Gangier's new slides because it's "too rollerbladish" but there are people both pushing spins onto rails (Candide and this French guy) and creative new grinds oozing with steeze (Bogart crew). So the way, I guess to look at, is that either way it's progressing our sport beyond what we could have even imagined in the past and that is great, period.
 
i am not a fan of the whole lets spin a lot and just tap the rail... thats not really a rail trick now is it? however, 990 to rail takes mad balls because think about it an 810 is just a cork 7 to rail, and you have a lot of time to spot in a cork 7, however a cork 9 is going to be blind at the end, which is scary going onto a rail, thats sick, but i would still rather see somebody 270 or 450 onto a long rail and stomp it while showing they can slide rails too...

i hate when people huck stuff just to say they can do it. no disrespect to michael clarke, because he has proved that he has such a vast range of tricks, most of which are done all 4 ways, but, its kind of lame that he would do that just to see if he could
 
totally agreed. like in the xgames a couple years ago. tanner did a 450 bonk to 2 off, but i much prefered jons 270 on to perfect railslide.
 
bonks look cool too tho. I love disastering over a rail. Disaster 450 bonks are sick. It takes balls to clear out rails.
 
yea umm maybe you should watch that video again? he grabs at 270 and lets go at 900. thats only 630 out of 1260...half of the spin. how would a 7 look if only 360 was grabbed? can you say evan raps?? although he did have a nice mute in there for the time he did grab. im not saying i could do it better but im saying why grab for half the spin? why not spin smaller and grab longer? why not spin less onto a rail and make it look better?
 
why not just ride however you want to ride. if you feel like slow spins w/ a grab then do that shit and vica versa
 
no nothing like sw 10's the reason why there's all the hate on sw 10's is because everyone is doing them and they are getting repetitive, cork 810 or 990 onto a rail is nothing like that because it's not repetitive, i mean how many people have you seen cork 810 to rail?
 
your crazy. how is that not sick spinning that much onto a rail. like it may not be steezy but you can't just say that its probably lame like switch 10's.
 
word imagine spinning that much and having to land perfectly on a metal rail. post a vid of u doing it.
 
and why is everyone hating on switch 10's. theyre fucking hard! if you can't do them why hate them? sure it gets old watching people do them over and over again but they aren't there to impress you, they are doin that trick because the judges like it and thats what wins comps. isn't that what skiers want to do is win comps.....sorry kinda off topic but thats my 2 bits
 
I have nothing against the sw 10 that's just what seems to be the general consensus amongst our fellow newschoolers. I for one like the sw 10
 
so your basically saying that trying new stuff is dumb and we should stay the same

nooo stupid. its like doing a pencil steeze 1260 just to be like "yea im cool i can do 1260s" even tho it looked like shit
 
if you can do a steezy sw 10 then do it but when everyone else is doin it in a comp, stray from the pack. its rediculous. i think the cork 990 to rail is dope but its just like alot of spinning to a rail
 
well, let me put it this way, it takes more skill to 450 or 270 onto a 50+ foot rail and stick it, than it is to spin 810 over a 50 foot gap and bonk the end of a rail... but no, 810s are not easy, thats why only 3 people... haha all french... have done them...
 
Jesus, people have a habit of just reading over what I type... Maybe I should win a comp. or two then people will start to read my shit.
 
yes they do, i did one in jibberish, but cork 990 to rail is as far as i've gotten, i haven't managed to push it up to cork 1110 to rail.
