Core company going trough Distributor

What do you guys think? I am asking a serious question, im doing a research...

Do you think a core company, say armada, 4frnt, ninthward, faction,liberty,surface etc.... should go trough distributor to extend in places they are not already?

To give you an idea, you have 2 choices, Distributor or reps. Going to a distributor is pretty much selling your products and Rights and the distributor just buys your skis and work it out.

Going with a rep is what I think is more "core" as its still trough the company...

Question being is it going against the "core" mentality to go with a distributor?
 
in the end its about the company staying a float. If that means going through a dealer or a shop, so be it.
 
its too broad of a question. but to answer it to the best of my knowledge and opinion...

if you're just handing everything over to a distributor without anymore personal direction, i would consider that "selling out." but if you are only going through reps then it makes success a little harder to achieve.

i think you need a good mixture of both. have reps in most areas but to get broader sales you'll need a distributor.

...thats my opinion.
