Has anyone dropped into Corbet's ever? I'm going to Jackson soon and wouldn't mind some hints about the drop in or where to do it...let me know! Thanks.

its pretty sick you just have to wait for it to fill in otherwise it won't even be open. i know a bunch of 12 and 13 year olds that did it so as long as you can get comfortable on 5-8 foot drops then you'll be fine, wait for it to soften up first though

I did it in 7th grade on tele skis. If you want to actually hit it, you better be ready for like a 25 foot drop. If you want to ski down the side it will be like a 5 foot drop. I would wait for some powder if you are going to hit it straight on. But then again, you prob. won't.

my first time was in 6th grade but if your coming soon it probly wont be open because we're having a shitty snow year

dude what do you mean that you're having a shitty snow year? from what i've heard it's been pretty decent

I heard from some people jackson has pretty good snow right now so it might be open but

that is questionalbe because they were comparing it to everything else around and everything else has shitty snow

i went to jackson last feb - it has to be one of my favorite resorts. the terrain is amazing - we didn't get to ski corbets cause it wasn't open then...it was like 40 degrees cause last year was so bad. i'm probably gonna go back next year

U guys r a bunch of show offs.. He asked for hints!!

Not if you have ever done it and what grade you were in...

my friend did it in 6th grade

actually its bigger then 5-8 ft. It was only that small when there was so much snow some one made a traverse on it. Its probably more like 15 at the smallest up to mid forties. The landings ussually kind of hard. I think there is a rock to the left in the chute right after the jump. It was around 2 years ago so my memories hazy, when your there just ask somebody.

thanks for the responses...is the landing the type where you have to land and just straightline out of it, or can you start making turns right away off of the landing (does the width allow for that or not)? im stoked to hit it if its open!

its like 30 feet wide

yep yep, so i'm leavin today for jackson. fuck yea. i think the problem with jackson is that they can get a 50-60 inch base but they have like 5 foot rocks to cover so 'shitty snow' takes on a different definition. as for corbet's, i doubt it'll be open but i'm looking forward to the hobacks.

yeah, corbets is pretty bad right now, but the superpipe is ill. 18 foot walls, carved out all nice and tidy with a wall ride at the bottom. It was fucking dope today because the sun hit one side and it got all slushy. the other side was icey. it has a damn good tranny though.

so ya I was wondering about Corbet's recently. I might be headed there just before christmas and was wondering if it would be possible to build a little lip off the top and maybee do a 360 or even a 180 into it. Anybody who's done it think it's possible or is there stuff that would make it too crazy. How steep is the run out?

Try that 180 and tell me how it goes. It doesn't look too bad in pictures, but the drop in is definitely intimidating when you ski up to it. As for throwing tricks off of it, you'll have to go off the center and launch about 40-50 feet in order to have space for it.

dont stand at the top and look down for long. you'll psych yourself out. spot your line, take some steps back, and do it. and then realize how overrated it is.

i stared down it for a few minutes, tryin to bring myself to beat the hype, but in the end, i wussed out, slick hard pack in fog werent really my ideal conditions

yea i did it two years ago and it was coool, defenitely wait for it to fill in tho, cuz it sukcs if its ice

you have got to be kidding right?

Look man, if you have to ask a bunch oof questions about the landing and the drop you may not be ready, i say may...cause i don't know you. I would not say it is overated, you gotta give every run respect. But dropping into it, especially without huge coverage is no fucking joke. I've done it when it had recently opened, in awesome coverage, and the first year I went it was closed.

Every year the conditions will be different, but one thing is if you are worried about it, don't try it unless there is a ton of snow. No reason getting hurt for a whole season when it will be there next year.

But like they have said there are some 5-8 foot drops with good coverage. I think I went down like 18-20 feet first time so every time is different. Once yoou get off the tram...wait have they closed the tram yet? Anyways its easy to find, have fun man, just committ and you'll be cool.

actually i just looked at some pics and depending on how much snow there is or where it is.. you could just traverse in or do like a 10 foot drop.. and then its just clear the whole way down so your not that fucked if you don't stomp it
