Cops tazes UCLA student 5-6 times

That guy asked for it. You have to do as they say, period. Even if it unjust, you have to wait for the legal system to decied that.

And god damn those other kids were dumb as hell too. "We want you badge number" like 50 times. I think they will have no problem giving you any think once they get that crazy fuck out of there.

i almost completely agree. while i don't think they should have tazed him so many times, from what i understand of the situation and from what i saw in the video, the guy got what was coming to him. think about it....it's after 11 oclock in LOS ANGELES, a guy without ANY id on him is in the library, and he had gotten the cops called on him (yes, he did). the officers asked him to leave, he obviously didn't want to, so the cop grabbed him by the arm, which he responded with screaming DON'T TOUCH ME! DON'T TOUCH ME! the officers asked him at least 50 times to get up, which he didn't (don't give me this "he was stunned" shit....tazers don't make you lose control of your legs for longer than a minute).

he's not a martyr. he's a dumbass.

fucking asshole cops like that piss me off so much. Especially the ones who take advantage of people who don't know that law

i understand he was sorta asking for it and legally they may of had the right too. But still, the video makes me sick the way the people where telling them to stop and how he was telling him he wasnt resisting and shit. I dont know much about it legally but im sure there had to be more behind it then he didnt have his I.D. Just seemed like it was a way over reaction. I have nothing against tazers, im sure tons of lives have been saved by them but they shouldnt be abused.

have you ever been tazed? trying following directions after you have or getting up/standing

not going to happen....

sorry but fuck those cops

i actually have been tazed, and i could stand up after like 30 seconds.....the guy could have stood up. and if he couldn't, he could have told them that he couldn't instead of not saying anything so he would get tazed again.

Cops tazers are stronger than regular ones^ for one thing, and for another they tazed him like a billion times and they held it for like 7 seconds on each one... that is unjust... Those cops looked pretty big they could have easily taken him out without doing any harm...

Cops also have to learn these arm locks and shit where it feels like your arm is going to break if you resist, they could have easily done that and told him what to do.

That guy is so tazer crazy, hes screaming at him while hes being tazed to put his hands behind his back. Or when he yells while tazing STAY ON THE GROUND!

It depends on the person and the taser method, genius... in some cases it can incapacitate you for up to 15 minutes. Especially when you get hit 3 times in that span.

dumb ass cops, i know they need to get peppersprayed to carry pepper spray, and tazered to carry a tazer, but they did it for huge amounts of time 5 times. and for people who said he was faking and he had it coming, i think that the students who were there telling the cops to stop knew the situation better than you

yo cops do NOT tazer you if you are cooperating.

if the kid would have simply said 'oh i'll run back to my dorm and get my id' it would have been over.

That was clearly bullshit. Abuse of power is an understatement. They could have taken him out with out tazering him that much. That is sheer bullshit. Seriously....way over the line. What if he was a real UCLA student, and he did have ID, but just didn't have his wallet on his person.....still justified? The random sercurity check thing is fucked up. Seriously, if i have 20 000$ to go to school, and im not doing anything wrong, i have the right to not get accosted right?

^ it doesnt justify that you dumbass... he really wasnt being dangerous or anything, they could have just put him in an arm walk and calmly told him to walk out.

he initally refused to leave. it was at that point they tried to handcuff him, and then after he continued to reist they gave him the taz.

ok, first of all "im leaving" means he is cooperating. second of all a cop tazer can put you down without muscle control for easily over a minute. especially depending on body type. lets just say hes a skinny nerd who left his ID in his room. its going to take him awhile to be able to cooperate after all the drama/surprise/being tazered. so you're are so wrong here. and it was unjust force. there is no way they legally were allowed to do that. normal police protocal wouldve required them to ask him to stand down, then threaten him with a takedown, then do the fore-mentioned takedown, then cuff him and escort him out. if they were standing next to him they'd use pepper spray. a tazer is meant fo an assailant running away or at adisance of more than 5m. sorry but this was not justified

Those cops were stupid fuck ups, bored because they're pieces of shit, and this is how they get their kicks.

While those piece of shit officers were busy taking down this hardcore "criminal" who wouldn't put up with their bullshit there was probably 10 other things more serious going on at the same point in time.

Its fairly easy for 3 officers to take down a skinny college student and put him in handcuffs without using a tazer. A tazer is used on a fleeing suspect or if the officer is alone and threatened. Officers should never use a tazer as a threat on a suspect that is down and handcuffed, especially if they're trying to make him stand up. I think they were laughing histerically on the inside every time that dude yelled after being tazered. Also its very easy for them to lift that kid onto his feet, he's not under arrest for homicide only for not having an ID, treat it as such.

Now the guy was probably an asshole but that still does not warrant being threatened like a little child to being tazered every 30 seconds.

Those cops will get off with nothing, the American legal system is among the worst of the 1st world nations.

They dont show the whole video. When an officer asks for ID you show it to him. The student told the officers he wasnt going to show them anything. Then he refused to leave after several requests by the officers to leave the library. Tasers do not kill people. Yea its 50,000 volts, but there are no amps behind it. AMPS KILL PEOPLE NOT VOLTS. You can get right up after being tazed, no matter how many times you get tazed. The officers did nothing wrong. The student got what was coming to him.

you can get right up if you dont have madd spasms when they're done. it takes a while to get your bearings. you feel like jello

No you don't have to show them shit unless you're trying to prove that you're old enough to have cigarettes or alcohol or you're doing something illegal.

It was 3 o'clock in the morning the kid was probably on the computer doing some work or what not and probably was pissed off to begin with. Then some bitch cops come up on a routine check and ask him for ID and he does not have it. They ask him to leave and he confronts them and tells them he won't stand for their bullshit, he's not doing anything wrong besides having forgotten his Bruins ID. Thats when the cops get up in his face and he gets up in theirs and they start tazering his ass.

it was a random check.

he was leaving, they stopped him...and it seomhow managed to escalate to them fuckgin tasering him.

do you go to college? do you have any idea how many times you will end up in a comparable situation?

do you have any fucking clue of the makeup of your typical campus police/safety of the world...soem of the dumbest fucktars i've ever met. its called discretion/justification for your actions....(worse case senario, if hes actually physically capable to leave) a kid protesting you tasering him, by sitting ont he gournd and refusing to move, does not pose the significant threat. what kind of retard tasers a pacifist protester 5 times in a fuckgin row, when you have liek 5 guys there who can simply carry him out.

and as for your 'better safe than sorry' "its past 11 o'clock in LA ooooooooooooo" argument...he was clearly a rich white kid, are you fucking serious.

yeah your right, if the kid didnt have his id in the library, he deserves to be fucking tazed. Not once, not twice, but six times. They should have shot him in the knee caps. it wouldn't kill him, but he sure as hell would have remembered his id the next time he came to the library, and thats what the cops are there for.

are you fuckin kidding me? you obviously just watched the video and didn't read anything else, because the cops were called on him. oh, and he clearly was middle-eastern, making him not white. so....uhh....did you watch the video?

yes, i go to college by the way. yes, i've ended up in comparable situations, which were ended when i said, oh, i'm sorry, i forgot my id. you don't have to taser me because i'm not a fuckin moron.

my bad.

they were called. he was leaving they stopped him....they went nuts.

not white. middle eastern...that just makes it fucking so much worse. i still think a "college kid" is pretty obvious to pick out.

ok so you're in college...you get asked to leave to computer lab by soem clown, cops roll in...oh shit i really gotta leave...fuck. in the middle of rolling out cops stop you, you still try to leave, he grabs your arm and asks for your id-what do you do differently?

EVEN IF he did pose an iminent threat (which he didnt), they should have just taken him donw and cuffed him (which didnt happen), and EVEN IF they could not control him to put on the cuffs and carry him out (which they could have), one time with the tazer would have been enough. Then, when they needed him to stand (and he couldnt) it was not at all nessesary to taze him 4 more times. so basicly, the cops did not do one thing right

all i can say is glad to go to a college in canada i dunt need no id to be in my libaray thats just action hungry dumb ass american cops goin to town on the kid

standard procedure calls for immobilization immediately after tasering (which they act. did right) of DANGEROUS subjects. even if the guy had a weapon, the correct procedure is to taser him ONCE, get a bunch of people on him, cuff him, and take him away....not to stand above him and bark orders, only to retaser him.

yeah...those dumbfuck cops sat there tazering him for like 10 mintues just saying "stand up", i mean, cant they fucking pick him up or something, theres three cops there

This is a typical police brutality scene. A person not wanting to comply with the cops, so they use extreme force instead of talking to him. Tazing was not the solution.

Tazing is used in a life threatening situation without inflicting mortal wounds; This is for from a life threatening situation. Its a gun replacement.
