We have 3 medium sized jumps: 35ft, 40ft, 45ft.

Also 3 small jumps from 10ft to 20ft decks.

Also, we have 6 rails/boxes:

Flat down rail

Down flat down rail

Flat box

Flat down box

Flat bar

Flat down flar bar

All rails are about 2.5 feet tall....

Along with the small Eagle park.

Come Sesh!

Because since the beginning of time their park has been the nexus of mediocrity.  They say every year, our park is going to fucking tear up every where on 70 and we changed this and this and this.  Every year their park is okay, with shitty set up features, a shitty location and a shitty park crew.  Compared to Breck and Keystone and with their budget, they just look really bad.

dont worry shelli, we love you, just copper has a track record from years past of poor maintence, and terrible speed for jumps. new park manager might change things around, though sounds like the park crew is undermanned.

we have only 4 people on the crew, theres an average of about 2 or 3 of us a day, that means that one park per person pretty much, so it sucks, we have a lot of work to do and we do what we can. intrawest wont give the department more money, so that means we either have to have less people on the crew or, no new rails or snow park tech guys...the went with new rails and hiring snow park tech over more park crew people...

just to let everyone know....

so what can we do to make it better?

park crew....usually a highly desired job...yet the most unappreciated by the general public. maybe I'll have to swing down to copper and lend a hand.

change the run to something a little steeper, I only got over there once last year but I thought it was hard getting speed for the jumps.

I just hit the medium line today. They seem a bit bigger than last years so that's fun. I've never worked on a park crew or anything but they do seem like they could use some work. There is no definite knuckle, they just seem to slowly roll over, which I guess isn't too bad. Landings could be a bit steeper and the jumps themselves can be shaped better, I think they just need a more defined lip to them.

first start by telling interwest to fuck themselves, cause there's like 30 people on park crew at whistler. secondly figure out something like a bigger starting knoll or such to ensure there is enough speed for the jumps, thirdly (this is for the other people, not you shelli) tell them they dont need to spark up in the woods every run (actually, that goes to all park crews).

For a resort that is hosting the US Open, this thread is amazing. I would understand if this was about some mole hill in PA. No hate, just uhh..... no love.. :)

haha good luck with that.

big line should be open soon with a 65-75 footer.

Elliot from Snow Park technologies is dozing the jumps, so they should be 'professsionally' done. we'll see.

like ive said, park crew is one of the most unappreciated jobs ever.

sparking up in the woods? you will never see that here in steamboat....and we have the smallest and steepest terrain park in the freakin country.

i know, haha, that's a lost cause. hopefully the jumps will be better, but there was deffinitely speed issues last year when i hit them, too bad they didn't think to push a dirt mound over there in the summer for a starting knoll, that could've helped. btw, are you gonna be able to jump at all? or not cause of the knee?

sick. Will def hit it up soon.

steamboat rocks. we are in a war with management just to build ONE 60ft jump. God, I hate dealing with idiots.

i dont think hosting competitions helps parks. it may give the mtn more exposure, but all the money spent on the comp course could just be used for parks. stratton hosts the snowboard us open and skiing vt open every year on a specially built slopestyle course, halfpipe and rail feature. so if a superpipe costs 500,000gs to make, how much does a slopestyle course costs with new rails, plus the rail jam feature? all that money could be spent on the park and then you'd have a comp ready park and pipe.

I know i give the park crew at keystoner and breck high fives whenever i can bc they do a goo job.
