Copper Grand Prix

about to drop for run #2. he's gotta get a 86 or higher to get into the finals if they are in fact taking the top 4

finals are going to be crazy, with 7 skiers who got in the 90's on their qualifying runs and a bunch more who got high 80's who will easily be in the 90's in the finals.

thats quite a final!

-ABM

-Russ Henshaw

i hope olila brings down his best possible run, loved to see him do something different than everyone else at dew tour!

and i feel like Henrik and Oystein Braaten are missing.

not harsh at all, people are getting paid to do 720s with no grabs in the olympics. it should just be the top 200 riders in the world, not top 5 from each country. This is why FIS is sooooo lame.

Good to see ABM and jesper in there. Their runs should be some of the more creative ones, instead of just seeing the same old back to back doubles.

Hey Guys, sorry we couldn't pull the trigger on streaming the Quals today. FINALS will be streamed live for Pipe and Slope starting Friday night with the Pipe, 7pm local time, 9pm EST. Make sure you check it out. Also uploading a copy of Candide's run as I write this. Should be posted soon on USSA Network on Youtube. Please check it out and share.

Well going from about 100 riders to 16 is fucking brutal and bullshit on it's own. It doesn't matter if it's take the top 4 out of 4 heats or the top 16 scores out of 100. It's seriously impossible judge 200 runs against each other. I wish it could have been a rounds of 100, 50, and 20. It would have made the judging a lot easier but considering what the schedule looks like for this event that's not going to happen. Hopefully the judges will be able to weigh in on how they felt about judging 100 down to 16 in one round.

So when it comes down to it, I seriously don't have too much of an issue if some of the top guys runs may or not have been judged a little bit more leniently in this situation. It's not like last week at pipe where the judges robbed Yadin in his heat against Fanning.

I got to spend some time with the judges at last year's Copper Grand Prix when I was helping cover it for the AFP. First off, you hit the nail on the head, but the judges are awesome guys, Steele is the man and is really trying to make the whole judging thing go as smooth as it can, but it's super tough for them.

It's mentally/physically demanding for them to sit in the booth and try and compare every single run that happens in a given day, especially in events like the Grand Prix with so many people.

heard they re-shaped the jumps like 3 times and can't figure shit out. Too big too small great work copper. Should have hired Breck is shape the jumps. 90ft stepdowns to death. Oh well, its just the Olympics.

Super stoked Simon made it in to finals!! David Wise didn't qualify! I think my FFL just went in the toilet haha. Gus is on fire this competition qualifying for both Slope and Pipe!

haha i dont think any of you have actually gone and watched the grand prix. last year i saw like 30 runs with 540s and 720s. Awesome. nottttt

^ wow just proof of how bad speed is (candide goes bigger than anyone ) and he is POINTING that shit straight into each hit. Wow. His rail game is perfect.

lol dude, u basically said the olympics (which are designed to be a competition for amateur athletes from around the world to compete with each other) should be the top 200 people in the sport. you also suggested that these people doing 540s were getting paid. I could go on, but basically what you said was very very stupid.

pretty sure youre a fucking retard. the grand prix was one of the most insane qualifiers ever.. 3 doubles both ways on 3 jumps with tech rails wasn't even qualifying to get into the 16 person final... but go ahead, pretend that the 1 of 100 competitors that does a 540 was 30 runs.
