an article about coombs was on the frontpage of the new york times today, it was pretty sweet, it tolk backround info, then the whole story of what happened, then about remembering his soul, it was sick when i saw a picture of him skiing a line in the alps on the front page

"Last month, Coombs slipped off a cliff and fell 490 feet to his death. He was 48. He was trying to rescue Chad VanderHam, his 31-year-old protégé and skiing partner from the United States. VanderHam had gone over the same cliff moments earlier. He also died."

Oh my god, iI thought it was an avalance.

what a good article. i'm glad to see that newspapers such as the new york times are writting about our sport.

that is awesome, coombs was the man. its great that such a mainstream publication covers that, and puts it on the front page.

Shows that even the best, most experienced skiers can still lose it. Sent shivers down my spine.

RIP

That was very good. Read the whole thing. It must be so hard for his family. My thoughts go out to them

that's really cool that the NY Times took notice. Doug deserved a front page article, he was such a nice guy.
