in my opinion its the robert deniro, christopher walken, al pacino generation, all from nyc born within years of eachother.

between the godfather 1 and 2 , 2 having both pacino and deniro, and the deer hunter with deniro and walkin (also merryl streeps best movie ever), scarface.... i think these movies along with apocalypse now with duvall were decades ahead of their time. the british equivalent being chariots of fire

by decades ahead i mean most 1975 movies i can barely sit through, but these movies are bomb as fuck even today.

the only thing i can compare is shawshank redemption, which being that early in the 90s was leagues above everything else at the time, and led to the age of really good movies, like saving private ryan, the thin red line, trainspotting, thhe edge, gladiator, ai, casino, blow, fear and loathing in las vegas, cast away, and the beach.

i think u can really best judge a movie by how long in the future people are still watching them and going holy shit. shawshank or the deer hunter or the godfather part 1-1975! are the best examples of this.

listing movies that will still be in dvd stores in the year 3030

 
sorry i guess this thread is kinda emo, but some of the best times in my life were watching movies like this alone with a 6 pack of sam adams keeping a constant buzz going throughout the movie. or smoking up and watching ai lying on the couch. forgot predator is probly the best 6 pack movie. or terminator 1 or 2.
 
forgot to emphasize this point. your not really watching a movie unless you are by yourself or someone who doesnt say a word, and keeping a buzz going throught the movie. some movies like predator, go with beer, ai and the beach go with weed, blow, scarface and fear and loathing in las vegas go with your add prescription.
 
yeah but idont know how to explain it. i know drinking alone is a bad habit, but buzzing through a movie by yourself kinda puts you in it. cant be shite beer tho.
