Cool Subie Outbacks?

Ok, so the car i really want is an 02 wrx wagon, but i dont think im gonna have enough money for it.

So im considering getting like an 00-04 or so outback wagon like the white with gold trim one and painting it black and putting on some big black wheels and maybe put in a turbo and new cold air intake.

However, I have really seen any dressed up outbacks and im wondering how it would look

Newschoolers, you're the best place to come for any thing subaru-related, and i know theres a bunch of you out there that have some sick outbacks, so.....

So post some pics of your outback or any outback that has different rims or any body mods, thanks

i dont think a "tricked out" subie would be that sweet haha. Then again I dont think any tricked out cars are really that sweet. I do have a 2001 legacy that kicks ass in the snow though. Its a real baller and still manages to get over 25 miles per gallon with 4wd

if you do do this i would do it with an imprezza b/c they look like wrx's more than outbacks i had plans to get a 98 imprezza and paint it blue put gold suby sti rims on it and make it into a sti wagon but no performance mods but it was going to be too much

If money is an issue, don't even consider trying to put a turbo on an outback. I'm about 90% sure you'd have to do a total engine rebuild, and by that time you might as well have either gotten a WRX or just outright bought an EJ. With that being said, I have an '02 Outback with the six cylinder and like it. It's lacking on the low end and you can only get them as an auto (ew), but it's really good in the snow once I get the winter tires on. Do some research and go test drive a few different cars to see what you like, that's about the best advice I can give.

I have an outback, so far I love it. They are notorious for the head gasket blowing though. It happens to so many outbacks. I bought mine used, and the head gaskets had already been replaced, that's actually better than having the original ones, that's what I've heard at least, I honestly don't know a ton about cars.

scooby wagons are where its at! here's mine, go for the wrx if you can stretch it

adding a turbo is always expensive and can be a real headache because there is so much more involved than just plopping the turbo in. its much easier to just mod an already turbo'd car. that being said subaru's are very fun cars turbo or no turbo. the outback has the most room and would definitly be great for getting you and your buddies and all your gear to the mountain, but a wrx, imprezza, or even a legacy would have more of an aftermarket available for "pimping it out."

also what do you really want out of the car? speed, looks, functionality? its pretty hard to have all those. i wouldnt put too much money into the exterior of a car that you will frequently drive in the snow or on salted or gravely roads. just some things to think about

ok, well i need awd because i live at the top of the foothills in slc and ski in big and little cottonwood. i would like to have room for friends, also ample space for things like golf clubs. i want good gas mileage (thats why wagon not suv). i also want it to look cool, and to be fast would be a nice bonus. thats why im looking at outback/wrx. so, from that, any suggestions?

Imprezas have a lot less space than Outbacks, that's for sure. I took my sister's Impreza down to Moab for two weeks this spring and had the thing totally full with only camping/biking gear, clothes, and a little firewood. Keep in mind this was for one person. I can fit three DH bikes in the back of my Outback without taking wheels off, which would never be possible in an Impreza. But the tradeoff is that Outbacks get worse mileage (generally), are heavier, and don't handle as well.

With that being said, if I was getting another car I'd probably get a TS or WRX. Just get a good rack for skis/bikes and make the people in back learn to deal with a little less space and everything's fine. If you're doing any sort of suspension or engine mods there's waaaayyyy more options for the Imprezas too. But you should still go check them out for yourself and see what you think you'll need.

psh get a jeep they're so fun. plop some suspension lift, long-arm kit, dana d44 axles, 33in tires and that puppy will look better than any wrx

he said hes low on funds but lifted jeeps are so sick i want one just to llike drive ovfer medians and shit to get around traffic.

hah ya he said low on funds, wants good gas mileage, and a car that can go pretty fast = not a jeep haha. my jeep tops at 70 going on flat and uphill to the mountain about 60, and about 12 miles to gallon. haha shitty eh?

You check out scoobymods.com they have tonnnns of information. That's where I get all my info for modding my WRX. I absolutely love mine, if you can get one, do it! Unfortunately I only have dealer pics right now...

So far it doesn't have too much done to it, but I'm going to do more this summer when I get some cash. It currently has a Borla Hush catback exhaust, catless downpipe, lightweight pulleys and a reground engine. I'm pushing about 17 psi boost, dunno how fast I can hit 60 in but it is fast as fuck. As for cosmetics, it has PIAA yellow halogen fog lights that are awesome as hell, satellite radio, just put on some wide ass tires this morning, its a beast.

I'm trying to decide if I should tint the rest of the windows, but I'm kinda worried in case I'm ever ridin dirty, it's a good way to get pulled over.
