cool idea for a comp

i think that there should be a big air comp that only allows 540. and it should be who can do the styliest, original varyation of a 5. and there should be no judges because they would mess it up it should be the competitors that judge it. it should be a part of the orage masters thing because they don't have a big air comp and they are all about the proggresion. i think that would be a cool idea...but don't get me wrong i love the switch cork 10 blunts and stuff but i really love the style fives and i think that really takes skill to do them really well.

 
Yea, but if Tanner does a 540 blunt, and Jon throws a more stylie 540 blunt, if the competitors voted then Tanner could vote for himself even if he knew his trick wasn't stylie, and Jon would vote for himself too. I think you would still need a judging panel or something.

 
no that wouldnt happen cuz the rail jam at mso was rider judged and it worked good

style is aesome, and a huge part of the sport, but limiting a big air comp to 540's, sounds like holding back progression to me

Really? Do you mean the actual riders in the comp vote or there are other riders there that judge? No one can really know if they are being completely honest though, you know?

 
as long as it was with the big riders, the self-scoring would work fine. It would work because guys like Tanner are less interested in having another podium under their belt, and more interested in progressing the sport.

Or how about this...

-Spins must be no more than 900.

-4 runs

-must do at least 3 different tricks in the 4 runs (no repeated tricks).

-If you land your first 3 jumps, you may try to better your score on one of the trciks you tried earlier.

i always hear all this crap about it needs to be judged by style and what not, and i agree to some degree, but not solely on style. If you ask me, limiting a competition to the same trick and judging based on the style of each competitor will not allow for progression. Judging on technical ability, amplitude, and style is where it is and should stay. Its about doing big tricks and making them look stylish. You'd be suprised on how many people can throw VERY stylish 180s, 360s, and 540s.

i dono about the whole 540 comp idea... but i think that i competitor judged comp is the way to go. snowboard events do that alot and some skiing events r starting to,.. who cares if someone votes for themself. in an entire field it should end up pretty fair. besides i dont think jon or tanner would vote for themself unless they deserved it. alot of the skiers are modest enough to know when they are beat. peace.

 
the rider judged format would work perfectly if you couldnt vote for yourself, and it shouldnt be just voting it should be giving like a point score for every rider so that if there were ten competitors each person would be scored by 9 others

 
u wouldnt vote for ur self because thats what fags do, and in comps they do judge on style but thats not it
