Convincing Parents

So I recently told my parents that I was going to get my eyebrow pierced (I'm anything but emo so don't post "emo fag".) They both freaked out. Granted, I've never done anything terribly wrong and I do very well in school. What's the best way to convince them? And seriously, I don't care what you think about eyebrow piercings, I want one, that's all that matters.
 
I'm 18, so yes I can just go get it done. But I'd rather have them be somewhat ok with it first. It would be better in the long run. If they don't agree with it then I'm doing it as soon as I go to Michigan State this January.
 
Have you tried talking to them? Not like "mom and dad i hate you!! i cant believe you wont let me get the piercing! you've ruined my life" blah blah blah...they'll respect you more and appreciate your effort if you just come straight out and tell them exactly why you want it. Tell them you're trying to express yourself or some shit like that. Also if they still say no, whatever you do, do not go out and just get it done while you're still living at home. I learned that from experience. Wait til you go to school.

I came home one day with my nose pierced (I was 18 too) it only had a little pink stud in it. Nothing major. My father freaked the eff out on me. Hardcore. YOU'LL NEVER GET A JOB, WHY WOULD YOU PUT THAT ON YOUR FACE!?! The whole 9 right. Well two days later we were going on vacation and he would not speak to me. He was that pissed off. After vacation I came home and he had already started packing my stuff up for me to hit the road.

So keep in mind you need your parents no matter what you think, just dont fuckin piss them off.
 
I know, I would never yell at them for not wanting me to get something like this. It's just a bit of a shock for them because I've never really done anything "bad". I don't drink, I don't smoke (the occassional cigar once every however many months) and I do very well in school. My mom thinks i'm becoming a bad kid, but really i'm not. The piercing is more of "hey, I've done really well my whole life, let me step out of the box for once with your permission."
 
on ebonus to eyebrow peircings is it is done through ski so they eventually grow out. What this can mean to your parents is hey it isnt permanent and shouldnt leave any scarring or permanent noticeablity for once you are out of college and on that all important job hunt. And geez why state why not a good school like central
 
well you could just ask them if they would let you get drunk instead. for gods sake how are you going outside the box if you have their permission
 
not raelly in the sense that he wants to. it sounds to me like he just wants to be bad for once, but you cant be bad with your parents permission. i mean, i think it would be good for you to get out into the real world and make a decision for yourself, cuz when you get to college you are gonna have a uge reality check. so why dont you go off and get hammered with your friends one night or smoke a bowl with some girls. but why do you want to peirce your eyebrow, i mean, i heard what you said, but it sounds like you just want to show that you can act for yourself, but why do you need to advertize yourself like that. its not a bad thng per se, but i dont understand why you are gonna perminantly peirce yourself and cause so much bef with your parents just in order to prove a point when there are so many other ways to prove it to yourself, which is what really matters
 
...Eyebrow piercing is HARDLY permanent. It grows out like any skin peircing and it can be taken out and healed up at any time. I think you also missed the part where I said "I want to get an eyebrow piercing." I photoshopped it on and I think it looks good. It's not about being bad, I'm just looking for a way for my parents to not get pissed about it.
 
im sorry i dont want to flame, but, eyebrow piercings make people look like asses dont get one.
