I don't know about from Canada to the US, but I know that from US to Canada they are very picky about analyzing things that cross the border. They'll take apart your contributor status just to check that it was made in the US, and if they find that it wasn't, they might keep it a little bit longer to figure how much duty to charge you. So it might take it a while to arrive. You shoulda asked them to mark it as a gift. That makes it so much easier...
