Contracts

As you probably have understand by now, You guys will be signing contracts this year. ( Last year we only sent out release waivers form to protect us in case whatever happens..)

There is a clause in the contracts about returning your skis at the ed of the season. This may sound weird to you guys at first glance, and with all the excitement these days about some team members selling their skis, I just want to make sure that you understand that it has nothing to see about preventing you to selling your gear. This clause means high cost for us, and it is for only one reason, Research and Developement. We want to see how the new product looks like after a season...

I just felt I would post this before getting all the emails and calls about this clause...

Hope its all straight and alright!!

Contracts are in the mail and on their way...

Also, I just got told that some skis are being shipped to our headquarter as we speak...good news!!

everything will be explained.

Basically what we are trying to do is avoid giving kids skis, kids dissappear and our skis end up on ebay.

We are giving you skis to use for yourself! if you use the skis all year, and we give you new skis, the old ones dont matter, you can sell them off if you want too.

Oakley has made this very clear to me (and other Oakley roots riders) that the company is sponsoring you because the company wants you on the gear representing the company!

We sponsor you, not your friends or some guy on ebay!

Dont worry too much, if you are still cool and on the team, you will have gear when you need it!

like I said, as a sponsored rider, we will do our best to make sure you have the proper gear.

If your skis are still in decent shape after the season, I would hold on to them for Urban for sure!

We are trying to get ahead this year so you summer camp kids can be on the new gear while on the glaciers.

because of financial structure and legal issues we are not able to pay out cash to roots team riders. You must be considered "pro" to get cash, and to the govt if you get cash you are pro. So, If you reach the level that you should be getting photo money and contest money, we are set up to promote you easily.

keep the contest results and photos comming, they can only help you!

I'll gladly answer any questions you guys have on this stuff, contract stuff, or any team concerns. As always, I can be reached at 585-350-8581, or my e-mail is ellen@libertyskis.com. I also just got some of the new skis and they are amazing.

It says that the Athlete must compete in 2 competitions... does this mean big name comps like VT Open and US Open, or does it include local mountain comps?

Yea. I said it.

what constitutes being a 'minor' in the states?

do i have to send my contract home to my parents even though i'm 19?

As for attending events, its just normal as I said that as sponsored skier, you attend the most comps you want. As said, if you leave out east, and we dont see you at EC and VT open, we will find it kinda weird, when some riders living outwest will travel to make it to those...2 events really is nothing..but its not 2 comps at your local hill on wednesday night where the winner wins a meal ticket for the cafeteria or something low ball like that.

Well, we still shouldn't underestimate the effectiveness of the smaller grassroots events. This is where it all starts and it's important to be there too. A small mountain event is a good place to show up, even if your prize may suck. It's all about the exposure, whether at a huge comp or a local comp. I sponsor at least 20 events around the east for Liberty, some larger than others, and they're all full of spectators, buyers, reps from other companies, etc. If you have a questions about a specific comp, just let me know.

All we want is for you guys to have an incentive to get out a bit! It will only help you as a skier to go to contests, hang out with the other skiers, meet some more of the industry people!

When you attend events on the hill such as contests and photo shoots, you gain recognition from people involved with the industry. You might impress a rep, perhaps a team manager or marketing director and who knows, you might just pick up a clothing sponsor!

Another thing to keep in mind, is attend events such as movie premiers and other ski-related events. Meet people, talk to them about skiing and how it's cool again!

Lastly, have fun. I know that sounds corny and lame, but skiing should never become a negative thing. If it does, put the camera away for a day and just go ride. Dont even go in the park, just go ride like we did back before there were parks!

so if were going to big events like US open and repping liberty, we will be paying for the whole trip ourselves, or u just can reimburse us afterward, like would we get some kinda check, or have u guys pay for it directly?
